^ "I just got offers from Georgetown, Georgia, and Old Dominion," said Harris. Harris became one of the first prospects in the 2018 class to get an offer from the Hoyas and new boss Patrick Ewing. About the offer, Harris said, "It is real big to get an offer from Coach Ewing. He is trying to recruit the best players in the area, and he is like a role model to everybody because of what he did at Georgetown and in the NBA." www.scout.com/college/basketball/recruiting/story/1775487-harris-keeps-adding-to-offer-list

Recruitment: Miami, Pitt, Georgia, Georgetown, West Virginia, Tennessee, Seton Hall and Rhode Island. His day: Harris began his day in fine fashion and ended it in a similar manner he competed with a much better motor than we are used to seeing. He is beginning to learn when he should score inside rather than play first out on the perimeter. A versatile power forward with a college ready body, Harris has top-75 talent and on Saturday, looked the part, just as well. Quote: “I will be making a cut my list when I get back from L.A. I want to cut it down to a final seven. I will probably take my visits after July and committing in November.” Prediction: Look for a cut list from Harris within the coming weeks but for Miami and West Virginia to be two of the heaviest of favorites prior to a fall signing with the DC Premier product. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/southern-jam-fest-prentiss-hubb-armando-bacot-display-major-value

Harris discussed a few of the schools that have begun to ramp their attention up for the top-150 recruit. Miami: “They fight. If they are down by 20, they keep fighting. They are a hard working program that competes against any type of competition; it would be a good fit for me.” Georgetown: “It is a big man’s school. Pat Ewing went there. I talked to him earlier this month when he gave me an offer. They really want me.”Georgia: “It is the SEC; it’s a big conference with high level competition every night. I talk to the coach a lot and we have great communication. It is where I am from, too.” basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/miami-heavily-in-mix-for-three-star-harris-after-big-spring

Eric Bossi ✔ @ebosshoops A pair of offers out for #Maryland today. Big men Ian Steere and Jermaine Harris are the latest for the Terps. An offer from Maryland last Wednesday rounded out a list that includes Miami, South Carolina, Xavier, Georgetown, Georgia, Pittsburgh and West Virginia. And that’s just since the first college evaluation period in April, in which Harris was a standout for D.C. Premier at an Under Armour AAU event in New York. Before that, the 6-foot-8 forward had offers from Penn State, Rutgers, Virginia Tech, Seton Hall, Providence and Rhode Island. Kansas came calling last Thursday with “high interest,” according to Cole, and North Carolina State has done the same. Cole said he and Harris plan to visit South Carolina, Xavier, West Virginia and Rhode Island in the next couple weeks, and then narrow Harris’ option by the end of June. That will give Harris’ recruitment some clarity heading into three college evaluation periods in July, but another strong showing could spike more offers and interests all over again. “This is the beginning for me, and I just need to work on some more stuff and get better,” Harris said. “It’s just the beginning.” www.washingtonpost.com/news/recruiting-insider/wp/2017/06/06/rock-creek-christians-jermaine-harris-keeps-blossoming-as-one-of-the-areas-best-big-men/?tid=a_inl&utm_term=.73408b824123

Eric Bossi ✔ @ebosshoops More I see Jermaine Harris of D.C. premier play the more I love what he brings to table. Tough and athletic with some underrated skill.

They have elite recruiting assistants. It makes all the difference. Kirby is a really high level recruiter. The problem is there's only one of him. Yes that is the issue. Combined with the delay in firing/hiring process (which is on the Administration) and Ewing's lack of any track record as a head coach in college, it is really not a shock to see the Hoyas losing many recruiting battles. The graduate transfers are going to be reluctant to use their last season while the program attempts to rebound. So are 4-5* kids who are looking to go to programs that are already winning or at least showing signs of heading in that direction. That said, Ewing deserves an opportunity to show what he can do and what his assistants can do. The key to recruiting for this program and this coach will be how the next season ends. No one is going to expect miracles at the outset. However, if come next February he has the team playing better and looking to be on the upswing, I believe that the Spring recruiting period will be much less frustrating than this year has been.

RIVALS REACTION Overall, the schools Harris kept on his list all make sense for him. All the schools and coaches involved have had success with players like him in the past, and they all have had success getting players out of the DMV area. West Virginia has been one of the schools mentioned most with him as the Mountaineers have had on campus multiple times. Maryland head coach Mark Turgeon was a regular at his games over the weekend as was Chris Mack. He also seemed impressed by Monday's offer from Kansas. Harris said visits will play a big part in helping decide where he feels most comfortable, so this one could take some time to take shape. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/top-75-jermaine-harris-down-to-eight

Maryland isn't really pushing for him. They are pushing harder for De Sousa and Moses Brown. He's more of a WVU, SC, or Xavier bruiser type big.

We are getting our asses handed to us on the recruiting trail. I think the more of the same approach is killing us. This stuff is all about relationships and we hired Pat who didn't have any and then he hired Orr who didn't have any. We basically have all our eggs in the Kirby basket until Pat can solidify some relationships and that could be two years out.
