Patrick knows how to generate some interest and excitement in the student body.
Hopefully this continues throughout his years here.

Patrick remembers when GU was the center of the college basketball universe. So do I.
Here's hoping Patrick the Coach can impact like Patrick the player did.

This type of stuff can only help generate interest and enthusiasm with the student body and the university community, which would be a step in the right direction. The second step will be winning some games. Once that starts happening you have a chance to bring the program back to where it is once was!!!

This is the type of PR stuff I always thought was needed but absent for a long time. It was definitely one of JT3's big weaknesses and I think one of the things that ultimately led to fans turning against him.
Hopefully Ewing keeps this up.

Have we still not gotten Pat a zip-up hoodie or is he rocking his Charlotte gear around to show where he last came from.

Agree the 'PE alone' narrative is not accurate except to the extent that he is the leader who sets the direction. That's not nothing though. PE seems in his first couple months to at least have a better feel for public relations and outreach than JTIII ever did. Even that small "direction" could be a big win for the program. Now, that could just be our perceptions being skewed during the typical honeymoon period after a coaching hire. Or there could be another dynamic at play: given Patrick's status in our program's history and his place in NBA history/popular culture, he's someone who--at least initially--Georgetown fans are going to be rooting for to succeed. He and Georgetown certainly won the press conference/his first week on the job. Now, he can't do it all himself for darn sure. I realize this seems like a fairly trivial issue, but Georgetown being the only school out of 16 in the PK Invitational to not put a single solitary thing on social media or even their website after the bracket announcement is just the dumbest missed layup and so typical of why we can't have nice things from McDonough.

This is exactly what I mean when I say the administration has to do it's part to get the program back on the track..

Not being dismissive at all, but I understand the context and edited it accordingly. As a former seat holder in section 100, I have a lot of respect for those who can show up every game and don't often get the recognition. This group isn't going to get the attention of building up the base precisely because they remain the base--supportive through thick and thin. So what can Georgetown do to recognize and honor consistent, long-time support, regardless of seating priority? It doesn't have to be big things, merely to maintain ties that bind. Maybe it's a letter from the coach thanking them for their support, maybe it's a post-game invite to that floor-level club at Verizon Center just to say hello and answer a couple of questions. The Alumni Association does some good things in this regard but it doesn't always make it down to a team sport. The Hoop Club used to be that vehicle but it hasn't been for a number of years. Okay, now I get your point. And yes, the admin and the program absolutely need to do a better job by about 1000% of valuing the fans of all levels. I'm 100% in agreement here. I've posted about this previously, but I think it's the kind of thing that this program needs to open up to: My father is a Villanova alum. Every year when Nova plays the Hoyas in DC, he comes to the game with me. He gets invited to the Villanova alumni club pre-game event. He doesn't always go, but you know who's always there? Jay Wright. He pops in for 5 minutes an hour before the game, says a few words, thanks everyone for their support, and scurries back to the locker room. He's done it when his team was good, and he's done it when his team was bad. These things matter to fans. I hope that Patrick understands that.
