If Ewing splits even just half of Blair’s minutes tonight between Carey and Sibley, I think we steal that game

I don't think Jahvon's game has changed much in the last few games, he is just struggling to score with the increased attention from other defenses. Teams are making sure he does not get any easy looks and running him off the three point line. I will give him credit that he has not forced things and taken a bunch of bad shots in the last few games even though he has not been scoring like he did earlier. When teams play him that way, the rest of the guys need to step up and make plays/shots and punish the other teams for shading their defense to Blair.
I also thought he looked a little tired at times last night and maybe the heavy minutes are starting to wear on him to some degree. Although all the Hoyas looked a little tired at the end of the game last night, it was a very physical game.

Blair has hit the wall, finally feeling the effects of too many minutes. We need him too much down the stretch to let him get quite so worn down. Sibley and Berger are contributing and Carey can take on some more of the load. I know he wants it all and he has delivered, but we need to back down on him a little so he stays healthy and effective.

Their defense made him work for everything and took him out of his comfort zone. He forced a lot of shots as nothing easy was given.

I agree and this is like the end of last year when the 40 min/game for 6 scholarship players was losing steam. This is especially apparent to a 3pt shooter when the margin for error is already so small and tiredness making it even harder. Hoping for a bigger lead and win over Depaul to give him some kind of break and his job is even harder when teams do a lot to shut him down.

Blair is a good complimentary player being asked to be the franchise. Both he and Dante are giving it there all.
Teams respect Blair, that is why he is struggling. He is still enough of a factor to at least allow others to flourish. As mentioned, others have to seize the opportunity.
Easier said than done, of course.

Think it has more to do with how he's being covered than fatigue. These guys play 2 games a week, that's nothing.
Teams are blitzing him when he comes off his screens to make him give it up and they're hard hedging in Pnr to force the same thing. If you notice most of his clean looks are in transition before the defense has a chance to get set because in the half court all the focus is on stopping him. Teams aren't stupid. They know he's the only guy capable of having a huge game on our team, so the strategy is to limit him and force others to beat you. It's more that than anything else imo.

This is why it is important to gt Wahab and Tim and even Bile looking to make the kickout pass. I have seen numerous times that when the ball actually gets inside to a post, opponents collapse and back off the perimeter players, including Blair. He is historically not a great shooter but when he can square up and get set his percentage goes way up.

Going over his right shoulder with the left hand and passing out of the post are the 2 most important things Q needs to work on in the off-season for sure. The first thing seems like a confidence issue. The second might take a little more work and film study.

I'm confused. The team has played fewer games this season, it had three weeks off last month, it plays two games a week and there's concern that players are fatigued? Really?!

Fatigue is physical and mental. Blair's college career is, likely, winding down, he has been in quarantine like the rest of us for a year and he has been the focal point of defenses for at least a year. If you don't think that can wear a guy down, I don't know what to tell you.

Hope he comes back and gives 110% his final 3 (guaranteed) games.

clearly this was a strategic rest day, like they sometimes do in the NBA.

The Coach may have felt the young man needed a day away from the Court to recharge his batteries.
If so, kudos to Coach.

Better to play him 0 minutes than 1 minute because it protects his big east scoring average. So coach did him a favor.

Obviously, we have no idea what's going on, but I find it hard to believe this is about recharging batteries. By saying nothing, Ewing is tacitly acknowledging it does not have to do with basketball, since you don't go from playing someone 35+ minutes a game to zero for no reason. Maybe it's just Ewing's style, but he seems to have had more of these coach's decisions than most coaches.
