I might think it better to let Patrick make his pitch, without a bombardment from a legion of desperate Hoya fans (many of whom were in the "Fire JTIII" movement, which may or may not have sat well with Tremont).

I wonder how far away we are from a school running out a Russian-style Twitter bot network to recruit, complete with disinformation campaigns against rival schools.

Nothing wrong with this idea. Fans do it in all sports trying to help lure recruits all the time. I follow college football recruiting closely, and people are always posting messages to and from recruits. It's normal guys. Plus it would be nice to let him know the fan base isn't upset with him about asking out of his LOI.
GO FOR IT.

Isn't it a recruiting violation for boosters to tweet recruits?
If not, isn't it ridiculous for adults to tweet teenagers about their college decisions?

There is a reasonable chance that this restores Tremont's belief in Georgetown. It will be the same academics, the same institution, the same legacy, the same family, but no longer in a downward spiral.

Not as simple as that because, since his commitment, two of the three highest rated players have left, two high-profile transfers (Ike and White), plus Peak. It's a different team outlook for 17-18 from when he signed. At least by tomorrow, after today's player interviews with him, Pat will know who is staying and can tell the Waters.

Waters knew that White was transferring by the time he committed (White announced in August 2016, Waters committed later on). And there was always a chance that Peak would go. I still think that the main reason he decommitted was because the environment around the program got immensely toxic, combined with the fact that we finished the year terribly (which was a major cause of the toxicity, of course).

True on White. Still, we looked great on paper. Then, the season happened. Someone should clear it up for Ewing that Tremont decommitted before JT3 was fired, so that Pat can be prepared with all the necessary and correct info when he pitches to the Waters.

Might not do much but can't hurt... Obviously an engaged and positive fan base helps a bit with recruiting

1) Technically it is a violation to tweet at recruits. 2) That being said every fan base does it and clearly the NCAA does not enforce this. It's essentially jaywalking. 3) Patrick Specifically asked for fans to do this in one of his interviews. 4) Like point 2 says all other fan bases do this. Our lack of doing this does make it seem like fans don't care to recruits in comparison.

The entire NBA just endorsed our program. I think Pat has a good shot here.
