Thoughts- Alex sobel from sacred heart. He shoots passes blocks hood, I know the level of competition is lower but look solid with a strong body, he just a backup getting like 12-15 a game

It was good to know from CaliHoya’s report that Cooley knows he still needs a center. If we add one that is a veteran, big bodied and defensively solid, then the ceiling of this team rises - potentially significantly. That is the biggest missing piece. Part my concerns about the Hoyas under-performing and losing momentum with retaining players and recruiting others have stemmed from the need to shore up the defense at the 5. Now that I understand Cooley is on the same page, it sets me at ease
Given the last 4 years, I don’t blame fans that bring a modicum of skepticism. We have had our hopes up too many times. And those hopes were crushed…absolutely crushed. When you take a deeper analysis, Peavy is a great add. Mack is a great add. I can see why Curtis was added. Banks is a great add. (Imagine Karaban having to deal with his defense). One more solid piece away from having a young team capable of going .500 in the conference.

“Respect”, “admire” and “appreciate” certainly aren’t the right words, but you have to [ ] Will Wade. Sleaziest of the sleazy but if I’m handicapping he’ll make an Elite 8 run with McNeese in the next 3-4 years and parlay it back into a P5 gig. Dude is only 41 smh

I think we all agree the focus must be on another big at this point... acknowledging one more guard/shooter/etc is needed but I think we could survive in those places if we truly struck out with the talent on this team...
...we will not survive without another post player. So what is out there?
Achor Achor is probably the best best big that seems to resemble the size and skill set of Keita. Would be a great addition. The problem...he has an official visit coming up with Auburn...posting this kid to start this conversation who else can we target at this point...

With Cisse apparently joining Memphis, there is speculation that Dain Dainja may shake loose.

Next guy up Baba Miller transfer from FSU...much different player...is really like a stretch 5 but certainly has the length and speed to cover the opponents center not sure about the strength...very different from Fielder and Sorber though so could see him on the floor with both of them and not being an issue...maybe someone has news on where he is looking...

The only news I see at all is that he went on an unofficial visit to Kansas State in April. But it is seemingly quiet since then.

Here are Dain's highlights, has a nice low post game, seems sneaky athletic but not sure how good he is defensively...would be a guy you don't have to promise minutes to and if he beats out the Freshman a good problem to have...

He has some great advanced numbers, albeit in less time in 24. But,dude could certainly contribute in 15-20 minutes a game.

I think you need a big body to deal with Hugely and Christ in conference. And then he can bully teams that don’t have size and strength. He gives you a different look. You play him 20 minutes a game and have Sorber back him up. You put Burks and Fielder platooning at the 4. Then you have a variety of big pieces. Super athletic, great long range shooter, bully, and a bit of all-around. I think he fits…if he turns out to be the guy.

I think Mack, Epps and Sorber are locks to start. That leaves peavy and McKenna Williams for SF and fielder and Burks for starting PF, competition is good thing. So I think we are looking for last best backup center.

Sorber is nowhere near a lock to start or even play significant minutes.

I am one of a number of people on this board who disagree with you. He is one of the top rated HS centers and will be a major contributor next year.

Barring something unexpected or constant foul trouble, Sorber is going to log a good amount of minutes this year. If he doesn't, we are in a world of trouble. I really don't care who starts generally (though situationally, it could matter), as long as the best guys getting the most minutes and closing games out.

Ed Cooley, at an event yesterday, mentioned that Sorber needed to come along at the right pace -- made me feel like he's not going to be a 30-min player, at least at the start.

I am high on sorber’s potential for sure but yeah he should not be playing 25 minutes in a competitive conference game. If we are destroying a cupcake or a matchup appears then yes get him more minutes. But it is ambitious to say he can compete with players who will be taller, stronger and more experienced for long stretches and thinking we will be fine. I am totally open to being surprised at how ready he is but I am controlling my expectations for now.
