Posting this in large part to just bump to the top so folks who care know that Dematha just got beat by O'Connell tonight 66-63 (O'Connell had lost 5 of last 6). Earl had an OK game/had never seen him before, but bricked three straight 3 attempts to tie as time ran out, each uglier than the one before. Of course, that was after he had a really nice trap/steal to get the ball back, and a beautiful block on a break-away just before that, so can't be too critical. Started the game with two beautiful 3s and got to the line A LOT (with a high percentage made/looks very smooth at the line). Jumper a little shakey after the start, and wanted to jack it up too soon/too deep fairly often (sound familiar?) Overall impression of him as a player is that he needs maturity all around, and to work on some consistency on his release, but clearly has height/build/stroke/hops to be a very high level player. If he were already a senior I'd worry, but as a junior I think all the gaps in the game (especially judgment and effort) will come. The effort level that he gives is always apparent.

I meant to go to the game tonight, but couldn't at the last minute. That recap sounds exactly like the two times I have seen Earl in WCAC play. Very physically talented athlete with a lot of room to grow as a basketball player. His stroke needs a lot of work, but he can score dirty baskets the way LeBlanc can. I think he would be a perfect fit on the wing with the way Pat wants his teams to play.

I went to the game last night as well. Timberlake opened the game with 2 3's, with a pretty good looking stroke, and while he may need some maturity, his court judgement (compared to his peers) is at least as good or better than either Mac or Akinjo (compared to their peers). We have no player on our current roster like him- he would be a huge get!

There is talk that Earl Timberlake could reclassify into the 2019 class, but speaking with the top-40 junior last week, he dispelled such notions as the majority of his attention remains on DeMatha Catholic's WCAC playoffs. Beyond a possible move to 2019, the recruitment of Timberlake remains heated. He has taken one official visit, which was to Providence last fall. The Friars remain a heavy threat but to land his commitment, it will not come easy. Pitt recently hosted Timberlake for an unofficial visit as the Panthers are definitely a contender, but so too is Cincinnati, Oklahoma State, Seton Hall, South Carolina and West Virginia. No other visits have been set, but expect Timberlake to be out and about this spring getting a grasp of those chasing him. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/wednesday-s-leftovers-kentucky-missouri-tre-mitchell

Earl Timberlake is a major target and while he could reclassify into the 2019 class, expect for the Panthers to push for his commitment regardless of his class. DeMarr Langford is another to keep tabs on, as he too could reclassify, if the opportunity presents itself. The same could be said for Julian Champagnie and Justin Champagnie, though I would be surprised if they were to stay in the current 2020 class. Pitt also just offered Cliff Omoruyi over the weekend and remain a top contender for three-star center John Hugley, who has already been on campus a few times since Capel and his staff took over. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/twitter-tuesday-unc-uconn-matthew-hurt-and-more

Endless Motor Sports @endless_motor
Impressed w/20 Guard Earl Timberlake @easyyyooo matching up v Jalen Green. Showing High level shot creation off the bounce & finishing through contact at the rim. Really digging in on D and making it tough on Green. A lot to like about Timberlake at 6’6 and a college ready frame

Jeff Greer @jeffgreer_
2020 wing Earl Timberlake, who plays for D.C.-area powerhouse DeMatha, says he’ll have an in-home visit with Louisville’s Chris Mack and Mike Pegues on Monday.

I've been following him a little bit, I think he would fit in here and he's very talented. Where do we stand with him?

We need to make a run to at least the Sweet Sixteen to show we’re back. Need some buzz created by winning. It’s been way too long.
