This is the type of player that sustains a top program. A day one contributor that rises to all American status by junior or senior year. The big man in 2019 seems to be the missing piece. Patrick is doing a very, very good job. Not to nitpick but I would rather have an Akinjo than a Timberlake when you are talking about sustaining a top program. Timerberlake is an absolute stud, but I would be surprised if he goes to college for more than a year and maybe not that if they change the rule before then. What he would be great for is giving us someone to be drafted high which you could argue may be better long term. I guess it depends on whether you think winning or getting players in the league is more important. This all falls into my I would rather recruit in the 30-100 range than the top 5. While I don't think a one-and-done factory a la Kentucky or Duke is sustainable at Georgetown, having a top player or two go that route would certainly raise the recruiting reputation of the Hoya staff. Once the possible NBA rule changes shake out it will be easier to know if the 30-100 range is a better target in the long run. If everything stays the way it is now I agree with you.

Timberlake has hidden abilities
Playing against some that have already played a full year in college, Earl Timberlake had to find a way to make up for lost time and experience in Colorado. He did just that on Friday as he may have been the best passer in attendance, especially off of the high ball screen, reflecting further the tremendous talent and versatility that he possesses. By the looks test alone, one would believe that he is a hard-nosed athlete thanks to the physique that he possesses. Think again. Timberlake thinks pass instead of shot, unlike most others, and his focus on defense in guarding multiple positions while others are hellbent on what they might have done wrong on the offensive end plays to his strengths, too. Just a member of the 2020 class, making the final under-18 team remains in question but what doesnโt is the hidden, underappreciated abilities that makes him one of the more unique, top-30 recruits in his class.

I really don't get why we're not mentioned in his top 5 on him the hardest OR in the "others" category...our recruiting is really starting to worry me...we need to see some results with relatively big time, impactful results...

I'm starting to agree with this. I was willing to give the current staff some time and benefit of the doubt, but this is just inexcusable. I hope Pat takes a serious look at the staff this offseason. No I know the '19 recruiting cycle isn't over yet, but this is not good. Need to build that wall around the DMV

Yeah, we may need to fold the program.๐ Step back from the ledge my friend.

Yes, Georgetown was not listed in the 5 schools on him the hardest. However, the second list is "other schools on him that haven't offered". Georgetown has offered him, so they would essentially be on a third list of "other schools that HAVE offered".

Yeah, we may need to fold the program.๐ Step back from the ledge my friend. Too funny. After we go to the Dome and "bust their A$$", the East Coast recruits will recognize and start signing up. Forget those dudes that want to sign up with Duke, the college version of GSW. We want guys who want us. I can't blame the staff because they can't close every deal. Coach doesn't want to fill space with just anyone, he wants HIS players. After we shock the talking heads with some wins, they will come.

Hopefully the staff is doing what they can and show love to Timberlake in order to keep him home.
