I was saying that mostly tongue-in-cheek. Brey was always an extreme long shot, though I do give the committee credit for going after some of the big fish. My mistake for taking you literally 👍🏻

Georgetown is the Sleeping King of the Big East and better than Shaka Smart's Texas job where Kansas reigns supreme. The Hoyas job is a great job...patient fan-base, low post season expectations and a excellent salary
A chance to come back to your roots and you pass it up to eventually be rail roaded out of town Shaka Smart is one more losing season away of going the Anthony Grant's route to obscurity. You have to jump ship while you still have a reputation to salvage.

Yes, we might not be as crazy as Indiana fans, but I also wouldn't call our fans patient, given that a vocal minority began calling for JT3's head years ago, and it slowly grew and then expanded over the last few years. I also don't think there are "low post season expectations" - I think the fans want us in the post-season nearly every year, and relatively frequent Sweet 16 appearances. That was one of the gripes about JT3's performance in the tournament - he got us there a fair amount but couldn't win. As far as it being a "great job," I think that's probably over-selling it. Don't get me wrong - I think our coaching job is a good one, but I also think there are factors that work against it being "great" - the fact that we are a Big East school (this has diminished with Big East success, but I still think there's a bias against it in the minds of coaches already in the football conferences), the fact that JT Jr. has been an influence, and it's unclear what influence he will have going forward, a fan base that turned on their coach vehemently after two seasons despite having a lot of success before then, and a place that might not tolerate some of the more shady recruiting practices.

True, people will gripe but it will not cost you your job if there are no post seasons. A coach just has to make the post season and anything else is gravy. If this is not low-post season expectations then tell me where else a coach can provide 0-1 NCAA wins over a a 10 year period and still keep his job?

If you're talking about NCAA wins, even if you're excluding 2007, JT3 had three wins: in 2008, 2012, and 2015. And if you want to throw in the NIT, he had one more. Quite frankly, if a coach is getting us to the tournament nearly every year, wins will come. Aside from one-bid leagues and low majors that get auto-bids, show me a coach who has consistently gotten at-large bids to the tournament throughout their career and never had a fair amount of tournament success? If you get there enough times, you'll have success eventually - maybe not a championship, but an Elite 8, Final Four, etc. So yeah, if JT3 had continued getting us to the tournament, he almost certainly would not have been fired, nor should he have been had that happened.
