Martin, Enfield, Danny Hurley I love the way Martin coaches, but I am not sure he is the right fit for Georgetown. He does seem like he is a little nuts on the sidelines, although they say the kids that play for him love him. I think Enfield is significantly overrated. He took a short run a Florida Gulf Coach and turned it into a big payday at USC. I have never been a huge fan of his. I like the way Danny Hurley's teams play, but you hear he can be a tough personality to get a long with. All three are guys that should be considered if they are interested, but there are questions with just about everyone who might be available.

It took Enfield 3 years to take a team that had won 6 and then 14 games, and turn it into a 21 game winner and then 26 wins, with 2 NCAA appearances including 2 wins this year. I could live with that track record for the next 4 years. Plus they play exciting basketball.

I don't know why Marshall is seen as impossible. He recently said he's open to leaving Wichita State: www.sportingnews.com/ncaa-basketball/news/indiana-coaching-replacements-wichita-states-gregg-marshall-leaving/1kmwb1rgx1upg1f8g4dygywyehFor the "we can't do anything because of the money" theorists, does firing JTIII change what you think is possible? I'd really love to hear from those posters because some of them seem to know a ton about the finances. If it really is going to cost a fortune to fire JTIII, then are we hamstrung in going after the Smarts and Marshalls? Also, if tullamore is right about the BoT overruling Reed and Jack, can Reed really stay? I vote no on Ewing. If he doesn't win, we're right back in this awful trap of having a coach we can't fire. I really don't think our leadership wants to go through this awful mess again.

I really don't think our leadership wants to go through this awful mess again. It was just four years ago when we crushed Syracuse on the last day of the season. I could never have imagined that JTIII would ever be fired on that day. (It would have seemed more absurd than Trump as president at that time.) I have no idea if Ewing would be a good college head coach, but there is no coach on earth we couldn't fire now. There is one stone cold fact that comes out of this: It's a business. No more, no less.

If the Board at Georgetown is serious about a top notch program, this would be the way to do it. I don't think Marshall would come here anyway, but if it was a possibility then money should not stand in the way. On Ewing, I agree. The fact that I am seeing names like Johnny Dawkins make me sick. He was a possibility in 2004 and promptly took Stanford to the NCAA's 1 time in 6 years, and didn't make it at UCF this year. Why would we hire someone who is undoubtedly worse than JT3?

Gregg Marshall reportedly makes over 3 million a year. We can't afford him. 3 million total or 3 million from Wichita State only?

The Texas message board has a topic about JTIII getting fired that already has 31 posts. It is subscriber only, so I can't read them, but that seems like an awful lot of activity.

Hard to justify that much for Shaka, but it would be a big swing, and would generate some excitement and boost recruiting. Maybe he realizes that football country can be a tough sell for hoops?

Shaka would be an incredible hire. Texas is an awful job in virtually any sport. We would be a tremendous fit for him. I have every belief he could win a title here. I am giddy that there are rumors he might have interest.

Only concern with Shaka and having no buyout---if he was able to negotiate that at Texas, chances are his contract at Gtown would be the same. I.e. he would be free to walk at the next interesting opportunity.
Still, worth the risk.

We need a great coach AND a boy scout once again. We had one as of a few hours ago.

I simply do not see someone being hired without experience at a school where academics is a serious part of the mix. And no, I'm not recommending Amaker, the people's non-choice.

It is time for a clean break.
Shaka Smart is my first, second and third choice.
If we cannot lure him away then Gregg Marshall, Tom Crean, Richard Pitino or Archie Miller.
Hard pass on Amaker.
