Patrick has been an assistant to several very good coaches in the NBA, and been coached by JT Jr and Pat Riley, a couple Hall of Famers. Have to assume he knows a bit about hoops. If he hires a couple of strong assistants who know recruiting, it could absolutely work.

I want to say thank you to many of the vocal members of this board. The groundswell of support for a change, pushed by many here, is what got us this potential chance to resurrect our beloved program. When most of our fans had tuned out over the past couple years, you guys, and you know who you are, dialed in. This would not have happened without the fan involvement. So, as a diehard Hoya fan, I thank you. LMAO. Are you serious? Ha Ha!

He has lobbied openly for an NBA head coach position and interviewed for just about every opening over the past few years, yet they all have passed. Isn't that telling?

Another option is Kelvin Sampson. He's had some NCAA violations in the past, but minor stuff relatively speaking, and he's seemed to keep things honorable at Houston.

Frank Martin would be an interesting choice. Has built USC from the bottom, was successful at KSU. Tough, hard nosed kids, preaches defense. not happening

Just spitballing some coaching names for consideration, in alphabetical order and not in any particular order of preference or likelihood:
Tommy Amaker (Harvard) Jeff Capel (Duke assistant coach) Ed Cooley (Providence) Tom Crean (former Indiana) Johnny Dawkins (Central Florida, former Stanford) Bryce Drew (Vanderbilt) Baker Dunleavy (Villanova assistant coach) Jim Engels (Columbia, former NJIT) Patrick Ewing (NBA Charlotte Hornets assistant coach) Mark Gottfried (former North Carolina State) John Groce (former Illinois) Dan Hurley (Rhode Island) King Rice (Monmouth) Lorenzo Romar (former Washington)

Can tomorrow's planned protest be diverted into a "No Amaker" (or any other failed retread) march?

He's been begging for a job. Plus guys like him normally don't have the taste for recruiting. They have accomplished too much to woo 17 year olds.

Ha Ha! Dead serious. The University would've liked nothing more than to stick their heads in the sand and hope this blows over. It was critical to make clear that course of action was riskier than change. The Board heard that message loud and clear. This board and Casual Hoya were instrumental to that effort. This does not happen without fan backlash.

So, as a diehard Hoya fan, I thank you. It wasn't the "groundswell of support" that got JT3 fired. Both the President & AD were firmly behind keeping JT3. It was the Board seeing the downfall of "Georgetown basketball". Tremont Waters wanting his release & players possibly transferring was the final straw for the Board. The Board overruled the President & AD and fired JT3. I'm aware of what's being said in the other thread, but are there any attributed sources for this?

It tells me that GM's don't see him as an NBA head coach. Quite honestly, I doubt anyone we hire will ever be an NBA head coach. Hey...I honestly do not know for a fact that Patrick is a good coach. Just that he has played for some of the greatest and worked with some very good professional coaches...so it is not out of the realm that he is qualified for the job..is it?. Again...the recruiting piece would be an area that the assistants would need to be strong in. I would take him over Amaker..put it that way.

Complete hearsay. But have heard that job is very attractive. Lots of coaches and agents checking in already. Including some back channel work by Shaka Smarts camp. Really hope they play this out and not just jump at Amaker without duong their due diligence.
