Georgetown is Aloof was the statement?
Georgetown, after finishing the last two seasons as poorly as it did hired JT2 for same type of performance.
Very sad that we are only on a national program for how sad we have become.

I'm sure all of this is leading up to a fantastic 2018 recruiting class.
Yes, that's sarcasm.

If you want a head coaching change, I actually think this is a good thing for the program.

This will drag on until the University makes some sort of formal announcement regarding the head coach position. If there is going to be a change, I hope it is announced immediately following the team's last game, whenever that might be. If JT3 is going to be retained, likewise it would be helpful if President DeGioa made that announcement immediately. Leaving the question hanging is just going to generate more negative press, alienate alumni and students on both sides of the question, hurt recruiting and retention, and hold current coaching staff hostage to uncertainty.
For the record, I'm more than likely going to cancel my season tickets after 21 or 22 year if it appear that the university is unwilling to make a dramatic change ... and I cannot imagine what short of a new head coach would be dramatic enough for me. Indeed, as stated before, if there is a coaching change and it is merely a shuffling of the deck chairs, i.e. some other Thompson regime head coach, or selecting some conventional and uninspiring candidate, then I'd likely still cancel my tickets.

I think this coverage is good for the program regardless of a coaching change. I've long been annoyed by how insular the basketball program is. It could be so much better given our history and resources.

Painful to watch but he pretty much nails it. It's just sad and embarrassing that it had to come to this.

But it's still not a national story, right?
Only a small sphere of people are even interested, right?

It's even more annoying because I - like many on here - have disliked SVP for awhile, especially given his Maryland ties. So I want to hunker down and defend Gtown/JT3....but it's simply not possible anymore. As posted earlier, for those who seek change this is a good thing.

Watching this is so uncomfortable, but SVP is correct in all his commentary. I do share the opinion that this is good. Hopefully it forces the university to "wake up" and really look at this situation.
The admin's inaction is what allows this pot to be stirred each day. You cannot tell me beating SJU tomorrow is really going to change their opinion. The only reason not to say anything is because III is getting fired. Otherwise, you come out and support III by making reference to him being here next season. End all the hopeless speculation and take the wind out of the story.

But it's still not a national story, right? Only a small sphere of people are even interested, right? For better or worse, a "yes" to both. Georgetown is off the ESPN radar once the tournaments get going, just like a lot of other schools. I sincerely doubt Scott van Pelt has any clout in this matter. Tom Boswell said it as well as anyone, and he's much, much closer to the program than SVP is.

Things are not good in the program by any means, but long-standing alum and fans will recall the media hatred of GU. The Kerry Kirkpatrick hit-piece in SI during the 1984 championship run, SU alum and supporters bashing us, Len Berman actively rooting for SU in the BET final broadcast in 1984, etc. The media hated JT2 because he did not allow unfettered media access and tried to make him pay.
Now we are seeing GU bashing 2.0. ESPN has no love lost for us after we bolted for Fox, and Van Pelt is a Maryland fan, who after "full disclosure", piles on. And Goodman citing" unnamed sources" is a reminder of low the media has descended recently.
Also, this Goodman "unnamed sources" stuff is garbage. Who knows if an "unnamed" source really fears "retribution" from JT2, or is a guy who did not succeed, did not like his PT, or just did not like GU. All of the latter happens in any program. Was such source a guy who transferred, did not meet academic standards, underperformed, etc.? We can think of who such players might be. Or is it a truly good guy? We do not know, do we, because these people are "unnamed"!
And this nonsense of the poor snowflake who sat behind the guy who built the program from scratch, screamed that his son should be fired and then claims that "others" told him that Tyler came over to him to shut him up in sheer nonsense. This student is an attention seeker who got his 15 minutes of fame -- just check out his hysterical Twitter feed.
We have enough of a problem on our hands without piling on from the media. And anyone who thinks that this will influence the Admin is sorely mistaken. They did not fold when the media conducted its anti-JT2 campaign decades ago, nor will they now. We have to solve this problem ourselves and this media grandstanding is useless.

But it's still not a national story, right? Only a small sphere of people are even interested, right? Some posters on this board have spun their heads off trying to down play how much of a debacle these past 2 seasons have been. That loss to Nova on Saturday was the worst loss to them in 68 years.

A Maryland fan at ESPN has negative stuff to say about the Hoyas? Why in the world would a single true Hoya give a flying youknowwhat? The level of self-loathing around here is embarrassing. If just one person on this board had learned anything from the years of Pops and III, it is that you have to keep your head up and persevere. Win or lose on the court, the real struggles are off the court and we continue to raise up stellar young men. HOYASAXA!

The the 3 main differences then with JT Jr. is that the program was winning, also had a big following in the minority community combined with the makeup of the team was the first of its kind of a national stage. JTIII is not bringing any of that to the table right now. Matter of fact, DePaul has not had a winning season in over 10 years and barely anyone mentions it. This media coverage whether people think it is good or bad shows what type of National Brand the Georgetown Hoyas still have. Georgetown has back to back losing seasons and now it is being covered from coast to coast via various news outlets...that is clout.

He looks lost and like he wants to go back to the locker room as quickly as the SID will intervene. That behavior is embarrassing. JT3 should, as you say, toughen up. Self-loathing? Agree to disagree.

Seems to me we are happy with the status quo. Just be quiet. We are doing it "the Georgetown way". We have a plan. You don't have to know about it. Remember the 80s? Oh wait, you don't. You don't understand our history. Just sit down and be quiet.
