Saw a report from Gene Wang that he may be done for the season. Probably too early to know for sure, but it doesn't sound great.

Yeah apparently happened diving for a ball against DePaul. Ugh.

I am in the top 10% of optimistic fans - but anyone who holds out any hope we will win this game needs to have their head examined.

I like Jagan. We definitely missed his presence today. Hope he gets better as soon as he can.
As for the game ahead, we will have to grind it out to beat Seton Hall. They aren't flashy, but they fight for every rebound and loose ball. In DC, it was striking how much effort and hustle they had . They're also a big physical team. Frankly think we would need Akoy to have a good game to win because I doubt Govan can stop them inside.
My guess is we keep it close but SHU gets the win. They're playing for an NCAA berth right now. Back to back wins would be big for Willard.

This is 100% on the track to 15-18: Lose to Seton Hall 14-16 Lose big to Villanova 14-17 Beat St. John's in the 8/9 game 15-17 Respectable loss to Villanova in the 1/9 game 15-18

I see 14-18 and a one game slide from last year as a distinct possibility.

St. John's isn't good enough to shoot 54% a second time and there won't be 22 turnovers in the third game. Remember this is the St. John's team Georgetown beat by 29 last month so I am optimistic. (I have to be, because I bought a week's worth of tournament tickets.)

SHU, like most teams not Georgetown, play much better at home. I would not expect a close game. We have no answer for Delgado and if Desi Rodriguez or Carrington are on their game, it is game over. They know this game is their chance to get that 9th BE win and pretty much lock up a bid. It will take a very good shooting night by Pryor and Peak to win this game.
It is depressing to see how much production SHU has gotten got out of their big Junior class compared to us. However, that is the way it is supposed to work when you bring in a top class.

Seemingly every game we have 2 or 3 turnovers when our big man comes out to the top to start the offense, the guard makes a lazy entry pass, and the defender steals it or knocks it away. The defense knows exactly what we are going to do, and the defender can overplay because our bigs are not mobile enough, and do not have the handle, to head to the basket even if the defender misses the steal and goes by them.
Maybe think about faking the entry pass so the defender overcommits, and have the big reverse and cut hard to the rim for a pass? Or swing the ball to the wing and then make the entry pass? Or have the guard recognize when the first pass to the big just isn't there?? At this point you can almost see the steals coming before the first pass is made.

Our offense combines rigidity with ineffectiveness in a very innovative sort of way. I'm not sure doing any of the above is in the script that leads to a backdoor layup 28.7 seconds later 1% of the time. Best to just run a weave and throw up a wild layup.

Or run an offense that is not initiated by a slow footed center with bad hands receiving a pass 16 feet from the basket?

It's clearly not basketball that is effective and that fans want to watch. The lack of Verizon buzz is clear on tv and can't help recruiting efforts.

I have a feeling that there might be some "buzz" in Verizon on Saturday against Villanova - and not the good kind! If fans are chanting and bringing "Fire JTIII" banners to the Garden, you would have to think we'll see some of that for our final home game. Which is on national TV (Fox) - banners and audible chants on national TV would add another layer of pressure for the administration. Really sad that it has come to this.

I understand the sentiment, but unfortunately, I think it has come to these types of demonstrations to get ANY reaction out of the administration. They have been completely silent and that is not helping. If the plan is to allow III to stay another year, get out ahead of this embarrassment and let the students and alums know so they can simply give up and not attend the game. Right now, the students still think they may be able to influence the decision makers. My guess is security will confiscate any "Fire JT3" signs, however, you cannot stop the chants. One way to quiet this circus would be to beat SHU. Something that should not seem so impossible! If the team does that, they can probably protect their coach a bit.

It's a noon game - the number of people who will actually be in the building in time for the pre-game senior day festivities is minimal. The seniors will have their moment in front of a smattering of friends, families, diehards, and people who got lucky finding parking. As for gametime: the place will be overrun with Nova fans, and many of the Hoya fans there will only be there to express their frustration with the coach and the state of the program. It's going to be sad as hell. And it's the first day of spring break, right? So the student section will be a joke. I'll be there, but I won't enjoy myself much.

As much as people might dislike JT3, I think the primary purpose of attending the game should be to support the team, support the seniors, and in the event that we keep the game close enough to win, to vocally support the team and try to give them an effective home court advantage. If people want to chant "Fire Thompson" nobody will stop them, and people can do whatever they want, but I think, during a game when you have players playing for a coach, and you vocally advocate for his dismissal that's not supporting the team on the floor.

amazing stat on Delgado. in the last 22 games, he has double digit rebounds in 21 of them. I know ike had 13 rebounds against Maryland but I wonder how many other double digit rebound games we've had by a player this year.
I am setting the over/under rebound total for Delgado tomorrow at 13.5 (no ties). I am taking the over.
