Looking at all the power rankings, bracket projections etc. that are coming out, I'm struck by the respect given to the Pac 12. Oregon, Arizona, and UCLA are undoubtedly good teams, but MAN is the bottom of that league garbage. I'm a KenPom devotee, so looking at his numbers the Pac 12 has 5 teams outside the top 100. These would be considered "bad losses" by the committee. The Big East only has DePaul outside the top 100. Basically the entire rest of the league would fit comfortably in the upper half of the Pac 12. I haven't done a deep dive into each team's schedule, but I have to think these guys are padding their records with cupcake conference games. Now, I much prefer that Georgetown play in the most challenging conference, but we might miss the tournament and Cal might make it this year, not because of a difference in talent but only because they get to play the equivalent of low-major guarantee games straight through their season. (Snark pre-emption - "Yeah, but we can't even win our guarantee games." That's an excellent point that I can't really rebut.)
