I guess the campaign to get GU removed as a catholic institution (or whatever it was he was trying to do) will come to an end. That's too bad. I was hoping it would work.

Was hoping someone who knew Blatty would have posted something but, in its absence, I'll offer this.
Blatty, along with my brother, was in the class of 1950 while I was '52. I may or may not have actually met him but everybody knew of him largely through the skits he and fellow members of the Flask and Bottle put on at football rallies held in front of White-Gravenor (yes we had football rallies in those long-ago days). Blatty always played the part of a Jesuit and, with his dark hair and dark beard, he was a spitting-image of our Assistant Prefect of Discipline, Fr. Nuttall. In all my time at Georgetown I don't think I ever saw Fr. Nuttall smile and Blatty played him perfectly.
Several years ago there was a post on HoyaTalk that suggested the poster was Class of '50 so I sent the poster a message asking if he knew my brother. In his response the poster let me know he was Blatty. After that we would exchange emails periodically, particularly concerning his suit against Georgetown University. He told me that his time at Georgetown was among the highlights of his life and, after graduation, he returned to the hilltop as often as he could. He truly loved Georgetown.

I did not meet him but those that did always spoke highly of him. He had a sense of humor as well. Here was a video of him playing a Saudi prince to get on Groucho Marx's show.

He truly loved Georgetown. what was his suit against Georgetown University? The author who turned Georgetown University into a horror scene in “The Exorcist” plans to sue the school in church court, charging that his alma mater has strayed so far from church doctrine that it should no longer call itself Catholic. www.washingtonpost.com/national/on-faith/exorcist-author-william-peter-blatty-to-sue-georgetown-university-in-catholic-court/2012/05/18/gIQA90GIZU_story.html?utm_term=.bcaf79643257cardinalnewmansociety.org/georgetown-alum-william-peter-blatty-says-canon-law-suit-our-only-hope/www.ncregister.com/daily-news/holy-see-responds-to-william-peter-blattys-canon-law-petition-for-georgetow
