Craig Sager loses battle with Cancer. He was beloved by all who knew him, and especially the sports world. May he rest in peace.

His sartorial tastes overshadowed his brilliance as a reporter. He was a unique broadcaster who will not be easily replaced nor forgotten. Requiescat in pace, Mr. Sager.

Cannot believe how long he fought that disease and how he was able to keep working, even coming directly from treatment to the games. Always thought he was a solid reporter, but that sideline role is so limiting in terms of feeling like you know any broadcaster. But in his case, it was so obvious for so long that every person he worked with and covered just adored him. I believe Big John Thompson used to tell Sager stories on the radio, and he'd reference a ton more that he couldn't tell. That guy seemed to squeeze everything out of life. RIP.

That SI link was a good read but it is uncomfortable getting through it knowing the ending of the story of his life. But I thought the video link was really touching. Ernie Johnson, by all accounts one of the very best people (not broadcasters but people) in any business, really showed how much Mr. Sager meant to those that knew him well. It was a really nice tribute and it's very sad that another good person lost their life too early to cancer. There's, likely, no family that hasn't lost someone either early or late in life to this disease. And, as horrible as it is, it unites us all in a way too and probably helps us to feel a loss of someone most of us didn't know personally more intimately. May he rest in peace. He'll surely be missed.
