I don't think Abdur-Rahim decision will impact UVA's pursuit of Coleman even though they are "currently" down to one scholly. Virginia will make room if they want them both. I do agree that It would be nice to see the staff back in the mix for Coleman but it feels like it might be too late. Also seems like the staff is much further along with Terrance Williams which isn't a bad thing.... You may be right, but it seems like that might not be the case, unless something opens up. I'll also note that while that happens a lot of programs UVA hasn't really operated that way.
I don't think Gtown has been pursuing him vigorously at all, and he just picked up a FSU offer, but you could see a scenario where he ends up here if he doesn't get the attention from a blue blood program that he seems to covet. I disagree with this statement. That's Virginia carefully crafted image but they made moves to open a spot for Sam Hauser. They may not do it every year like Duke, Kentucky, Western Kentucky, Kansas and others but they'll get their hands dirty in the right situation. In terms of Coleman, I agree it doesn't appear as if the staff has pursued him with intensity or maybe they have and he's not crazy about the program. Maybe the staffs lack of traction with Coleman is blowback from the Antwan Walker dismissal? Coleman is a former Team Loaded Virginia guy. He used to talk highly about the program when Walker was still a Hoya. I don't know but it doesn't feel as if Coleman is really an option. It feels like the staff knows it and has focused on Terrence Williams. As always, The Staff Makes Moves In Silence, so you never know...

I don't think it has anything to do with Walker. They just haven't really given him a lot of attention. Basically enough to continue to get listed, but not enough to be considered a serious option. Could be because they figured he was a huge UVA lean and didn't want to waste resources. But he seems like a kid Pat would love, and he fits what they've been trying to build here.

RJ Davis Kyree Walker Matthew Alexander Moncrieffe Kyree Walker, 5* 2020 SF, 6'5", 200 lb. Hillcrest Prep / Phoenix, AZ Offers from: Georgetown, Virginia, Kentucky, Arizona, California, Memphis, Illinois, LSU, St. John's, UCLA Walker is friends with Akinjo, and they recently went on Instagram Live together. Walker said that Georgetown is very high on his list. Robert Kirby went out to California this week to visit Walker as well. Kyree Walker, the 6-foot-6 wing from Hillcrest Prep (AZ), could be the latest American high school player to head overseas instead of going to college. The No. 5-ranked small forward in the Class of 2020 per 247Sports.com, Walker met last week with three Chinese professional teams, one source said. A second source said it’s a “done deal” that he will play professionally in China for the 2019-20 season. The second source said Walker could make as much as $1 million by signing in China with an option for another year at the same amount if he’s not drafted. The source said Li Ning has also offered a shoe deal. “Hillcrest Prep’s Kyree Walker will be announcing that he is going to forego his senior year and go to China,” one source said. Reached by text, Walker’s father, Kahari said: “No, it’s not definite. We are looking at all options.” Kyree Walker said he did not meet with any Chinese teams and is not considering playing pro there. “I don’t know anything about me playing in China honestly,” he said by text. “Never crossed my mind.” Walker said he planned to play at Hillcrest next season and listed Oregon, UCLA, Kansas, Michigan and Arkansas among those recruiting him the hardest. www.zagsblog.com/2019/07/09/kyree-walker-could-be-latest-american-high-school-hooper-to-head-overseas/

Actually Marco Anthony's transfer is what opened up the space for Sam Hauser. Hauser announced his desire to transfer from Marquette on April 15 and was immediately tied to Virginia. Guy announced he was staying in the draft one week later on April 22. With Guy officially in the draft, Virginia was at 13 schollys, the maximum allotment all accounted for. The same day (April 22) Virginia announced that Anthony entered the transfer portal potentially opening a scholarship. On May 28 Hauser announced he was coming to Virginia. Marco Anthony officially committed to Utah State on June 14th officially bringing Virginia's scholarship numbers back down to the maximum allotted 13...

I’d be a little nervous with all of those coaches watching. Are these kids utilizing the new distance on the three?
