One name to keep an eye on coming out of the Nike EYBL session three is Texas native Montreal Pena.
Pena, a 6-foot-9, 205-pound post prospect, had one game that particularly stood out this weekend. Matched up with MEBO Team Hood, Pena scored 21 points on 8-for-9 shooting and showed his upside.
“Texas A&M, TCU, Texas, Baylor, Georgetown, Wake Forest, Oklahoma State and a couple others,” he noted.
Of the schools that have reached out, Oklahoma State is the only one that has offered him a scholarship.
“[Oklahoma State] wants me to come visit in June and Georgetown wants me to come visit,” he added.

2020 6’1 PG R.J. Davis If you want a quick guard, this is your guy. He brings instant speed but plays under control as well, which is something a lot of guards don’t have. He can create on his own or find his teammates in the right spot while pushing the tempo of an offense. He played with a high IQ on the floor.
2020 6’7 F Earl Timberlake Jr. Timberlake immediately stands out physically when he steps on the court. Strong forward that uses it to his advantage. Physically imposes himself on defenders and can showcase a smooth, confident outside game or put it on the floor and get to the rim.

6’7” 2020 Henry Coleman Trinity Episcopal (Richmond, VA) Coleman is a physical specimen. He plays with great strength and such a high motor. When he is 15 feet and in he can put it on the floor or finish with his back to the basket. Very strong, a good rebounder, Coleman thrives with the stuff others don’t enjoy.
7’ 2020 Mark Williams Norfolk Academy (Virginia Beach, VA) Williams has a great frame, you see that off the rip. He runs the floor well and he did a good job affecting shots around the basket. Still, on the slender side, he has good hands and a good touch. A lot to like looking forward.

VA looks like the leader. UCLA and Duke the latest schools to jump in.

2020 6’7 Jabri Abdur-Rahim This young man has a calming yet deadly feel to his game. A 6’7 prospect that can play the guard or small forward position, plays with confidence, and simply plays at his own pace; under control. But whether it was finding open teammates, attacking the rim, or knocking down the open jumper, there wasn’t much he couldn’t do on the court.

Coleman is the definition of a high-motor forward as he dominates his area but also has improved in producing out of his area on the glass. Even better, he has begun to develop a face-up game as he made a nice turnaround jumper on one possession, before then finishing a catch and rip move that began on the perimeter. Coleman's recruitment remains open, as the local powers NC State, Virginia and Virginia Tech continue to be the most often talked about for where he might land. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/nbpa-top-100-superlatives-from-wednesday-s-action

Finding playmaking point guards who are smart about the game and are all about putting others before themselves is not easy to find in today’s world of high-scoring offenses. That makes Andre Curbelo a valuable commodity. A member of the Rivals150, the native of Puerto Rico discussed his evolution into the leadership role for his Long Island Lutheran team, the schools in pursuit and a timeline for his college decision. “I think that I bring a lot of leadership," he said. "As a freshman, I couldn’t do much, but this year my coaches think this is my year and my team, so I just bring a lot of leadership and I try to encourage my players to play very hard, run the floor and crash the boards, just everything. I bring a lot of passion for the game, too, and I create for my teammates.” Florida, Georgetown, George Washington, St. John’s and Stony Brook are just a few that have kept Curbelo high on their board, he told Rivals.com. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/2020-prospect-andre-curbelo-developing-into-a-leader2. If you were a college coach and were targeting one player in the 2020 class, who would it be? Evans: This might sound a bit crazy but I would take four-star Andre Curbelo. We have seen just how important it is to have an efficient lead guard that can create for others, have a consistent approach and can defend their ground in the backcourt. Curbelo personifies each trait perfectly and his value is even more important because he is not a one-and-done type, nor is he even a two-and-done sort of prospect, but rather will have a multiple-year stay in college but produce from the get-go. He raises the ceiling for his team and betters his teammates each time out which is why his recruitment is expanding by the day. Miami just offered and the new staff at St. John’s will be doing all that they can to attain his commitment. Florida, Pitt, and South Carolina are just a few others that continue to track the NY Jayhawks product heavily, though a commitment remains out of sight. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/rivals-roundtable-rj-hampton-2020-talk-and-what-s-next-for-boogie-ellisArguably one of the very best college-ready guards in the high school game, Curbelo is known, first and foremost, for his speed and for just how hard he plays. However, it was nice to see Curbelo grow even more into a playmaking role. His change of gears and abilities off of the high ball screen are second to none. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/nbpa-top-100-superlatives-from-wednesday-s-action

A giant half-court orchestrator that boasts a supreme feel and pace for the game, Abdur-Rahim has a skill set that should translate seamlessly to the college game and beyond. One of the top scorers on the Nike EYBL circuit this spring, Abdur-Rahim picked up right where he left off. His three-level scoring abilities were on point which is why his recruitment has taken off. Villanova has gained most of the talk of late, though Michigan and Virginia are two others to keep tabs on whenever it comes to where the four-star might land. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/nbpa-top-100-superlatives-from-wednesday-s-action

It’s still early and nothing is ever clear with our recruiting but who are our main targets this spring/summer for the 2020 class?
