You do realize, don't you, that there are HR processes involved with new hires that might not be complete, none of which include getting on the phone and calling you first, right? Flogging the Sports Info Department may feel like great sport, but it gets tired after a while. They don't control the decision about timing of when information is announced and in general this department is light years ahead of the practices 25 years ago. Someone had a bad day at work? The (Ducks) was the humor indicator. Hoyalove4ever et al. got it. Oh, and on topic, we need him to bring Mom Wallace's broom with him. *insert Internet winkie here*

GREAT news!!! Lets get some broom drills going!
Out of curiosity, will this job afford Jon the time to go to law school concurrently?

Hesitant to bring up the name, but I believe Esh did exactly that. Can anyone confirm? or refute? Yes, Craig managed to graduate from GU Law Center when he was first, a graduate assistant then full assistant coach. From wikipedia entry on Craig: "Esherick grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland and graduated from Springbrook High School in 1974 as an all-state forward. He was a four-year basketball letterman at Georgetown from 1974 to 1978 and thereafter attended Georgetown University Law School, receiving a law degree in 1982. During his final two years of law school at Georgetown, he served as a graduate assistant to John Thompson, Jr. In 1982, Thompson offered Esherick the position of assistant coach, and along with former teammate Mike Riley, he stayed in the position for the next 17½ seasons. After abruptly resigning in January 1999, Thompson named Esherick head coach." (I was one year ahead of Craig in high school and at Georgetown).

Having been down the law school road, it would be a very hard one as a basketball coach at any level. Perhaps if the school allowed him four years to complete his studies? Possible but quite difficult.

Possible but quite difficult. GULC still has a "part time program" (I guess it's not called an evening division anymore). It's doable with the proper discipline which I have no doubt Jon Wallace has if he wishes to obtain a law degree. I'm also assuming that Wallace would be entitled to a tuition benefit as a Georgetown employee as well. www.law.georgetown.edu/academics/academic-programs/jd-program/part-time-program/Uncle Sam (Navy) paid for my LL.M at GULC which took me 2 1/2 years in the evening to complete. Normally, it can be completed one year full time.

This is not to say that exceptions cannot be made, but the (awesome) tuition benefit becomes available only after 1 year of employment, and Section 7 (the section for part-time 1Ls) meets exclusively in the evening and has classes every day M-Th and every other F, which makes it fairly difficult to be in that program and still attend weeknight home games, much less travel with the team. That said, the faculty for Section 7 is awesome and understanding of the complications for people working full time jobs, so perhaps he can make it work.

I hope people can tap the brakes on this one, in that the three assistant coaching positions are full. One can be "on the staff" without being a coach.
Remember, a Twitter post is not confirmation. Ask Denzell Hosch.

Ask Denzell Hosch. Good points DFW. Word some have heard is that he will be "asst to the coach" rather than an assistant coach. Still no official confirmation, as you stated. www.casualhoya.com/2016/8/1/12341242/report-jonathan-wallace-to-join-georgetowns-coaching-staffI am sure my view is shared by most on this board, a Wallace return would be a great thing for our Hoyas and hopefully, a good career move for Jon - - assuming he wants to get into coaching. The Law School talk is total speculation based on his stated interest from previous years -- and i believe he was assured a spot at the Law Center whenever he wanted to return to school. Here's hoping we see Jon back on the Hilltop soon.

I love this move. In addition to his basketball (and other) IQ, he is an incredible role model as a young man. Whatever happens, and fingers crossed, you gotta love this offseason.
