You guys are acting like our team isn't pretty much loaded with top 100 guys. Saying the results haven't been there is simply inaccurate. It's called recruiting. You win some, you lose some. Hopefully we win a bit more now that we have an on campus facility Top-100 yes but I think some people aren't happy that we haven't landed a single five star recruit since Cope and before him Greg Monroe. We can fairly consistently land folks in the 60-100 range but rarely any better. But tbh rankings really don't matter that much in terms of performance, I'd rather land exclusively a mix of four and three stars and perform well with that team than land a couple five stars and never perform each year. Unfortunately we have the worst of both situations, we land four and three stars every year and we never perform every year.

As worried as I also am about the current empty 2017 recruiting class---can we please limit the recruit specific threads to, I dunno, discussion about the specific recruit?
I come to the recruiting page to find out our progress with the various targets, so when I see new posts in a Troy Brown thread, I am pretty disappointed when all I see is an argument over our past recruiting triumphs/travails (and no actual updates). Maybe we make a separate thread on the recruiting page just for that discussion so that when I am interested in reading the bickering threads about JTIII, I know where to go; and when I see a new post on Troy Brown or Latavius or who ever, I know its actually an update?

How are they getting outworked? I would be interested to hear details. From where I sit, the work and the results are two different things. Kentucky can swoop in at the end and grab up myriad top players. That is great from a results standpoint, but has little to do with the work the coaches put into recruiting. On the flipside, the Hoyas might do a great job just to stay in some of these battles, but then lose out on those players. That is bad from a results standpoint, but it does not mean the coaches did not put in the work. Yes, that's a good point. The thing is how hard you work doesn't automatically yield results. Granted, if we are putting the most work into people who realistically aren't going to choose us, then that might be a problem, but hard work doesn't directly correlate to results (just like certain players can work as hard as they can, and still never do better than some guys who are more talented). This point sums it up for me..

That is bad from a results standpoint, but it does not mean the coaches did not put in the work. Within the Big East, it appears that Xavier and Villanova are two teams outworking Georgetown on the recruiting trail. Creighton surprisingly may be in that mix as well right now. At least based on the last couple of recruiting cycles (class of 2016 and class of 2017). That said, I think the staff did a very nice job playing catch-up this spring to bring in Pryor and Mulmore. I'm also bullish on Mosely, so it's not like the cupboard is completely bare. But it seems to me that, from a pure recruiting standpoint, JT3 is getting beaten not just by the Kentuckys of the world, but teams within his own conference.

Oregon: "I like their coaching staff. They're a great school. They play up-tempo basketball."
Arizona: "They have a great coaching staff, is really close to home and since one of my friends, Ray Smith goes there, I visited there."
Alabama: "They are a great school with Coach Avery Johnson. You can't go wrong there. I know a couple players that are considering them that I would like to play with."
Georgetown: "Their coaching staff is amazing with Coach [John] Thompson [III]. Their history is amazing. You can't go wrong with them."
Ohio State: "They like tall point guards. They produce really good point guards out of being tall and lanky."
Cal: "I like the location of the school, the style, the environment, and everything around them. They've been on me since I was a freshman or sophomore, so they were there really early."
UNLV: "That's hometown, of course. UNLV is always gonna be in there of course."
Brown said he has no timetable yet for when he would like to commit and will discuss upcoming visits with his family in the future.

Staff is still pushing but don't think we have a great shot at this one.

Shortly before the start of Adidas Nations, 2017's No. 10 ranked player Troy Brown cut his list down to a final eight of Alabama, Arizona, California, Georgetown, Kansas, Oregon, Ohio State and Oregon. At Nations, the versatile 6-foot-6 guard showed off his all-around game while averaging nine points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists and just over two steals per game. At his best in transition, Brown has become much stronger over the past few months and is an elite playmaker and defender in the open floor. Up next, Brown has to decide on his five official visits. He hopes to narrow that down sometime within the next few weeks and at least one of them is spoken for. Brown confirmed to Rivals.com that he will take an official visit to Kansas for their Late Night in the Phog festivities in October. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/adidas-nations-visits-next-for-brown

I wouldn't bank on that.. With 6-foot-5 size, a high basketball IQ and plenty of athleticism, Garrett is a new age style utility guard who can run an offense and provides the versatility to play multiple positions. Because of his size, he can play all over the floor and maximize the number of ball handlers and playmakers that Kansas can put on the floor. "He wants to do everything," said Watts. "He wants to fill the stat sheet and do a lot more than just score." As good as he is on the offensive end of the floor, Garrett may be an even better defender and as one of the top defensive players in the class of 2017 he projects as a player capable of defending multiple positions on the college level. "Coach Self told us that he is going to use him in the three guard rotation. He always has three guards on the floor and Marcus fits. The best thing about about Marcus is the way he defends and he can guard the one the two and three. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/four-star-garrett-makes-the-call
