From what I can recall there were signs from Waters' camp that he was trying to break away from Gtown even before III was let go. So it probably didn't matter if III stayed so far as Waters was concerned.

So it probably didn't matter if III stayed so far as Waters was concerned. That's my recollection as well. I also don't recall any talk about LJ staying because Tremont had signed on. I think it was either common knowledge or, at the least, presumed by most that LJ was leaving for family reasons.

I really think Waters was the straw that broke the camel's back and finally led to JT3's dismissal, since things looked really hopeless. So even if JT3 was retained, it would have been without Waters.

Carry on, but we are heading for the deceased equine territory of whether the antics of a portion of the fanbase "cost" us Waters.

Tremont was told by III that we would be up tempo and basically change for him. I think things went south when he saw that was a load of crap. I doubt he would've stayed regardless. The sad part is with Tremont on this team it's easily a tournament team. Not only is he that good, he is that good at a position we desperately need. Oh well.

Because the team was god awful a second straight year and talent was transferring? But ...everyone here is just speculating..both sides of this.
Why is it still an issue? He is at LSU , Pat Ewing is the coach. Let's see if we can enjoy the upcoming season.

I really think Waters was the straw that broke the camel's back and finally led to JT3's dismissal, since things looked really hopeless. So even if JT3 was retained, it would have been without Waters. From reading the message boards and stuff, he decommitted because he wasn't sure if III was going to be around next year. The decommitment was directly related to JTIII being fired/being here or not next year.

CORRECTION: We've arrived at the deceased equine territory of whether a portion of whether the antics of a portion of the fanbase "cost" us Waters. The reason or combination of reasons for Tremont's decision are unknowable.

This does not belong in our recruiting thread. It should be locked.
Why are we still discussing why Waters is not here? Oy!

No need to lock it up in my opinion. There are plenty of other threads open on players who went elsewhere, many of whom never signed a LOI letter to be a Hoya. Like it or not, his career will be of interest to all of us that follow Gtown hoops. Ignore this thread if it bothers you.

Well, moving to this thread is fine, better than locking, Now those who still wish to rehash ancient history and beat a dead horse can do so in this obscure thread.

Moving it seems like a good idea as discussing the impact Tremont may have had had he enrolled and what he's doing at the school he actually goes to seems reasonable. Especially considering that he's off to such a strong start at LSU. As for Georgetown, Tremont certainly had plenty of reasons to reconsider and he did. That part is a dead issue.

Tremont Waters over the last 2 games...2 losses, 2-16 from the field, 11 points.
