There is a video from a bystander which makes it look really really bad for the police officer. Two police officers have him on the ground and one of them takes out a gun and shoots him. We have to wait and see, but this looks like an execution just based on the video alone.

Ferguson was a far cry this. You had a thug who had just robbed a convenience store tries to grab a poleman's gun and then charges at him. This nothing like that

Just wondering whey you chose to single out this one shooting rather than the over 300 murders in Chicago so far this year.

Now we are just now learning that Sterling had a gun. Still, he was on the ground with two officers sitting on him. It is impossible to know if this was racism or just out of control cops. I agree with Ed to the degree that 300 murders in Chicago is an important issue, but totally distinct from this.

I'm curious why your skepticism of government tends to fade in circumstances like this.

How long until the Left starts calling to disarm officers?

Ed It appears that you are saying that the police killed 300 people this year in Chicago. I was not aware of this. I thought the 300 represented civilians killing civilians. Do you have any sources for this that you can share??

Do you have any sources for this that you can share?? A national total collected by the Guardian indicates just four such fatalities in Chicago in 2016. Three of the four accounts had the assailant firing at officers, the fourth is not clear on that account. www.theguardian.com/us-news/ng-interactive/2015/jun/01/the-counted-police-killings-us-databaseMeanwhile, the US media continues to ignore shootings in Chicago overall which have passed 2,000 this calendar year: crime.chicagotribune.com/chicago/shootings

Broadcast media ratings driven. You'll not get much detailed reporting on Chicago shootings on cable/broadcast during an election season. Newsprint better for long form journalism. In that regard, I don't disagree with you.

Because there's a video recording and a very real level of systemic racism, perhaps? There's a "very real level of systemic racism" in that video? Wow, you must have one of those fancy TV's that has a higher resolution, 'cause I didn't see that when I watched the video.

It certainly looks like the cops shot him while he was subdued. Unless there's some other evidence out there, they need to be charged with a crime. But let's not make the victim into some kind of saint who was just trying to make a living to support his kids. Here's his arrest record:
9/09/96 aggravated battery
10/31/97 2nd degree battery
1/06/98 simple battery
5/04/00 public intimidation
9/20/00 carnal knowledge of a juvenile
9/04/01 domestic violence
5/24/05 burglary of an inhabited dwelling place
7/11/05 receiving stolen things
9/12/05 burglary of inhabited dwelling place
3/17/06 simple criminal damage to property, simple robbery, simple theft, drug possession, misrepresentation during booking, simple battery, aggravated battery
4/12/06 aggravated battery, simple criminal damage to property, disturbing the peace, unauthorized entry
4/04/08 domestic abuse battery
6/03/09 resisting an officer, drug possession, receiving stolen things, possession of stolen firearm, illegal carrying of a weapon with CDs, sound reproduct without consent
10/12/09 illegal carrying of weapon, marijuana possession
8/13/15 failure to register as a sex offender
4/08/16 failure to register as a sex offender
6/14/16 ecstacy and marijuana possession

Clearly, there needs to be an investigation to, hopefully, provide details and context.

Victim-blaming is the best.

Because this was perpetrated by people we pay and give power to in order to protect us? Because it's another example of an all too common occurrence? Because cops almost always gets off from this kind of charge? I realize you're just intentionally being annoying, but that logic doesn't pass any kind of muster.
