The OT for track and field are being held in Eugene, OR (same venue as the NCAA meet) starting July 1 and going through July 10. (The 20K race walk will be held June 30 in Salem, OR). So far at least four Georgetown students and alumni are qualified to take part. They are Emily Infeld, Rachel Schneider, Trenier Clement Moser, and Ahmed Bile. Emily has not run this season due to some injury, but I hear that she is training and should compete in the 10000m, the event in which she won the bronze medal last year at the Worlds in China. Rachel and Trenier will be running the 1500m, although I believe Trenier is qualified for the 800m as well. Ahmed is qualified in the 1500m. If they use a strict qualifying time standard for the trials, these are all the Hoyas who are qualified. A couple of runners will probably make one or two last chance to qualify. There is a meet in Boston on Friday, which should have several Hoyas attempting to get the standard. Heather Martin has improved her PR to 2:04.06. The qualifying time is 2:03, and if Heather gets into a fast race, she might be able to qualify. She, Sabrina, and Emma have a shot of qualifying in the 800m. I don't know if Sarah Schmidt will contest the German trials in the 800m. Natasha LaBeaud will run in the Canadian Olympic trials in the 10,000m; she was on the Pan-Am team for Canada (her mom has Canadian citizenship) last year.

I thought Katrina Coogan had a qualifier for the 5K--would be great if some of the current students could qualify for the meet-it would be good experience even if the chance of making the team is remote

I think the chance of any current students (or recently graduated) of making the Olympic team is very slim, but I agree that it would be good experience to make the trials. Now Emily Infeld has a great chance to make the team, IF she is in good shape after her injury. Rachel Schneider finish 5th in the Worlds trials, just missing being on the team by 0.01 s. But the 1500m for women, the talent is so deep that it would be hard to make the team.
Several, including Katrina, have run their last race for Georgetown. Heather Martin could run XC, but since she is not really a XC runner, she will not be running for Georgetown, but she will probably be running in Boston on Friday, with the Georgetown colors. Katrina could possibly run, but I don't have the lineups yet.
Track and Field News rated the events for the Olympic trials. Rachel and Emily were both ranked 10th, so I would think that both are under the radar and might surprise a lot of people.

Andrew Bumbalough would be a lock to be at the Olympic trials. However, he had an ill-timed injury. He is healthy now and doing well. He hopes to be back at it later in the summer. Though, missing a chance at the Olympic still hurts.

There are two, maybe 3, who have a chance of running in the trials, even though they do not have the qualifying time. The USATF regularly fills the fields to 32 with those with marks just outside the qualifying time. Two Hoyas rank among the top 32 at this time. They both rank 26 (eliminating those running another event or injured), and they are Joe White in the 800m and Darren Fahy in the 3000m steeplechase. In the SC Scott Carpenter ranks 41st.
For the women 53 have met the qualifying standard in the 800m, so no hope for our 800m runners unless they run a sub 2:03 in the next two weeks. Treniere has the qualifying time in both the 800m and 1500m and Rachel Schneider has the time in the 1500m. Emily Infeld has the qualifying time in both the 5000m and 10000m.

Today is the day that runners can declare for the trials. Rachel Schneider declared for the 1500m and she has been accepted. The same is true for Emily Infeld, who has declared for both the 5000m and 10000m (keeping her options open, as the 10000m is first). Treniere Clement Moser has declared for the 1500m (I believe she was also qualified for the 800m, but no indication that she declared to that race). Ahmed Bile has qualified for the 1500m, but no indication that he has declared. Joe White and Darren Fahy are not qualified, but it seems as if they might be accepted to fill out the fields in the 800m and 3000mSC, but I don't think they have declared. As mentioned before, Sabrina Southerland, Emman Keenan, and Heather Martin are close to the 800m qualifier, but since there are so many women qualified, I doubt they will take runners, who do not have the qualifier. Another Georgetown alumna tried to qualify in the 800m, but did not have the qualifier. She is Rose Wetzel, and she is the top ranked women in the Spartan series of runs/obstacle course. Rose graduated in 2004.

Another Hoya, who could possibly get added to the field in the 1500m is Katrina Coogan. She is closer to qualifying for the 1500m than in the 5000m. She has a 4:13 mark from last year, which is not a qualifier. Again, if they take non-qualifiers to fill out the field, she may make it.

A couple of Hoyas or Hoyas to be running in the USATF Junior Nationals. Spencer Brown qualified automatically in his heat in the 1500m. Ironically enough another GU recruit Connor Ross running in the same heat also qualified (Connor on time). Both were recruited as 800m runners.

Both Joe White and Darren Fahy have declared but have not been accepted. However, in the steeplechase only 11 have been accepted. There are five or six ahead of Darren, who have better marks, but have not been accepted. There are three with qualifying marks, but have not declared.
In the 800m there are 15 runners with the qualifying marks and have been accepted. There are six runners with times faster than Joe's but not qualifying times and have not been accepted.
If they fill both events with 32 runners, Joe and Darren should be in.
