The regional meet (or first round of the NCAAs) will be held in Florida (Univ of North Florida) starting May 26. Both the men and women have nine runners qualified (the best 48 in each event, 24 in the relays) based on time. Some qualified in two events, but had to declare what event would be compete. For example, Sabrina qualified for both the 800m and 1500m, but just declared for the 800.
The women: 800m 8. Sabrina Southerland (the number is based on the time run during the season) 9. Sarah Schmidt 13. Heather Martin 15. Emma Keenan
1500m 7. Andrea Keklak 19. Kennedy Weisner
5000m 3. Katrina Coogan 19. Audrey Belf 36. Autumn Eastman
The men: 800m 5. Joe White (surprise, only one man in the 800m qualified - others are injured and redshirting)
1500m 28. Ahmed Bile 30. Cole Williams 46. Spencer Brown
3000m Steeplechase 9. Darren Fahy 32. Scott Carpenter
5000m 15. John Murray
10000m 30. Mike Crozier 31. Jon Green
I think several of our runners should be rated higher than their seed times. For example, I think Jon Green should be rated in the top ten in his event. Same with Darren Fahy.

While the collegians get ready for the NCAAs, a few alums ran at the Hoka Oxy meet in California. Very good fields as runners tried to get the OT qualifiers, plus the Olympic qualifiers.
In the women's 1500m Rachel Schneider ran in the fast heat. She didn't do well place-wise, but ran under the OT qualifier mark (she already had the Olympic standard). Rachel is just starting speedwork and trying to time her peak for the trials in July.

Joe White is going to Eugene with a 2nd place in heat 2 and the 5th fastest overall time of 1:47.13.
Three of the women are also going to Eugene.
Emma continues her great running as she finished 3rd in heat one with the third fastest overall time with a PR of 2:03.33. Sabrina finished 3rd in heat 2 with the 6th fastest time of 3:03.74. Sarah finished 4th in heat 1 and qualified on time with the 7th fastest time of 2:03.78.
Unfortunately, Heather did not finish. I think she might have fallen as there was another women in her heat, who did not finish either.

Our two men in the steeplechase both are go ing to Eugene. I thought Darren Fahy was a lock, but Scott Carpenter ran a fantastic race to be one of the three time qualifiers.
6. Darren Fahy 8:40.12 (2nd in heat 3) 7. Scott Carpenter 8:40.14 (5th in heat 2).
