This Friday and Saturday the Hoyas will be in Geneva, Ohio at the Spire Institute (probably Xavier hosting) for the BE outdoors track and field meet. Since again the Hoyas have limited field eventers, I see them probably finishing in the middle of the pack. Again, the middle distances will provide most of the points. Since we are deep in those events we should have multiple scorers. The men also have the steeplechase to pick up points. Let's hope they can win some of those events.

As expected the Hoyas with the combined men's and women's teams have one entry and that is in the men's long jump with Kenneth Anderson with the 7th best mark going in.
Additionally, I think the Hoyas are using the conference meet for a tuneup for Regionals with the fact that several of the runners are running other events and not the event they will run at Regionals. For example, Sarah Schmidt is not running in her signature event, but she will be running the 1500m, and Katrina Coogan, who will probably run the 5000m at Regionals, is also running the 1500m. Darren Fahy is listed as running both the steeplechase and 1500m.

Mirabel Nkenke ran 57.91 (a season's best, if not a PR, if I am right), but she did not qualify for the finals of the 400m.
In the men's 400m Dan Anderson was 2nd in his heat in 49.27 and qualified automatically for the finals. Ted Foster, running the exact same time, was 3rd in his heat, but qualified on time.

The women also dominated the 800m with five of the eight places for the finals.
Andrea Keklak ran 2:08.85 to finish 2nd in the first heat to qualify automatically. Jocelyn Hubbard ran 2:10.28 to finish 3rd in the first heat and qualified on time. Emma Keenan ran 2:10.15 and won the 2nd heat. Heather Martin ran 2:10.39 to finish 2nd in the 2nd heat and automatically qualified. Sabrina Southerland ran 2:12.62 and won the 3rd heat.
The surprise in this event was Jocelyn to qualify for the finals. Good work Jocelyn. Still no Sarah.

The men did not do as well as the women in the 800m, but still qualified two.
Joe White won the first heat in 1:50.86. Andrew Ogle was 6th in the first heat in 1:55.55 and did not qualify Zach Zingsheim finished 7th in the second heat in 1:56.29 and did not qualify. Spenser Brown won the third heat in 1:51.73. Charles Cooper ran 1:52.61 for 4th in the third heat, but did not qualify.
I was hoping Charles would qualify too as he recently ran his PR.
