He's been injured I believe. That's why he didn't play during the first two circuit stops

“He has great length, and he’s a very strong rebounder and defender,” said Jerry Meyer, 247Sports director of scouting. “His offense is still lagging behind his defense, but he’s taking his offensive improvement one step at a time.
“His length and his athleticism and what he can do defensively and as a rebounder are what make him a five-star,” Meyer said.
Obiagu isn’t just a five-star, he’s the No. 1 center in the 247Sports Composite and the No. 11 overall prospect. The Decatur, Ga., product is fresh off unofficial visits that he enjoyed to both Maryland and Georgetown, with the former school offering him the same day. Georgetown offered Obiagu last year, he said.
Obiagu told Meyer at the Hampton, Va., EYBL session Saturday that “there’s not really one” school standing out to him. And that’s understandable with him listing Arizona, Baylor, California, Georgia, Louisville, Maryland, N.C. State, UConn. Obiagu went on to say that Kentucky was not recruiting him.
Obiagu doesn’t have any more visit plans, though he said he would likely make some when his AAU season is completed.
“[I’m looking for] where I can play right away, where they develop their bigs and utilize their players,” Obiagu said. “Where they have a good education system.”

This is kind of interesting... "Four-star center Ikey Obiagu has used all of his official visits and the thought has always been that he would sign early. However, after speaking with many sources familiar with the 6-foot-11 shot blocker from Decatur (Ga.) Greenforest Christian it is looking more and more likely that he will wait until the spring. At this point, Obiagu has seen Baylor, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Long Beach State and Maryland officially while Auburn and NC State have also been involved. While Obiagu could still end up signing early, we would bet that he waits and it currently appears that Auburn, Florida State and Baylor are emerging from the pack and if we had to set a favorite we would lean slightly in the direction of Scott Drew's Bears." basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/signing-day-blog-five-star-young-planning-to-wait-it-out

Hard to tell how involved (if at all) the Hoyas are here. But I agree- if they like him and he is ready to pop, take him. Does not sound like that is happening, though.

Well he visited unofficially in May so at least a few months ago there seemed to be mutual interest.

Obiagu or Wilson? Wasn’t Ikey a 5-star? Was a 4-star -- #63 on 247. Had a ridiculous amount of blocks this year in limited minutes. Ended up #29 in the country in total blocks in just 10.7mpg. Wow.

If the staff really has 1 scholly left (outside of Govan) in this class I would take Ikey for the 19-20 class (when eligible). Forget Golden or the Grad transfer from NC A&T who's name escapes me at the moment.
Alongside Yurt7, you don't have to recruit a true 5 until the 19-20 class if they get Ikey. Ikey would also allow the Hoyas to pay the kind of full court pressure defense i think Coach Ewing wants to play.
That said I trust completely Coach Ewing and staff in their evals and decision.
