Worthy of thought and discussion, I thought. I mean, come on, I think we have a great group of kids who I believe have decided--in spite of the disappointing season--to hang tough and rebound from the experience. I think it says something about the character of this team. What is the transfer count up to these days?

There's plenty of time for an announcement by someone. Don't get me wrong, I hope that you are right, but the fact that there are new transfer announcements everyday makes me think we're not necessarily in the clear yet.

Georgetown already has/had scholarship openings for 2016, so they don't really need anyone transferring out at this point. A lot of schools had all 13(or whatever the number is) scholarships filled, so they needed a player or players to transfer out immediately in order to sign a transfer or a player who has de-committed from a school.

I think it actually says we might have a unit that likes each other and knows their lane. To look at the transfer list and grad transfers it seems like you should expect a transfer every other year. Maybe one happens, maybe it doesn't but after the first few JTIII seasons of Egerson, Spann, Guibunda, Wattad, Meschiarakov, Thornton things have calmed. You had the unexplainable V Mack transfer and the "I think I am better then I am" transfer in Rivers. After that it has been pretty solid and I think the staff is to be commended.
Unlike Duke who is asking kids to come in early only to recruit over them immediately (Thornton), we are trying to cultivate a program where most kids are four year players and graduate with hopefully a kid who breaks out and goes early to the league every three to four years.

Assuming nothing happens the remainder of this year, I actually think this is a great achievement by III and staff. When you think about the volume of transfers that occur and realize the Hoyas have not had one in a while, that is impressive. The kids feel committed to each other, school and head coach. That is an accomplishment in my mind that leads to future success.
I also found Lykes quote about III wanting to change the way the Hoyas play very enlightening. I assume he had to resell the program to a few of our guys on the current roster, and this "change" that Lykes references must be a key factor in everyone returning. If we are able to land Pryor, this team is primed for an up-tempo, aggressive style on both sides of the ball. Should be a lot of fun to watch and play.

I give JT3 credit for keeping this group together after a tumultuous and disappointing season. Makes me think these guys like each other, which means they'll fight for each other in 2016-17. Also makes me wonder if the problem with this year's team might have already walked out the door

TC, I get your point and think every team in the country tries to improve themselves with better players but the Thornton thing stinks in my opinion. They were desperate for a point and asked the kid to reclassify. I don't think that was the case with Domingo or Hollis as I think that was both of their priorities. It worked out for one and not the other. We definitely recruited over Reggie but this is more of the stereotypical deal where a kid gets opportunities and doesn't cash in on them. Domingo & Reggie were supposed to be knock down shooters and that skill hasn't fully translated to the college game. Thornton by all accounts was solid as an underage freshman. If anything, these kids need strong parents and role models who don't push them into things like the Duke arrangement even if they believe they are all world.

Perhaps many of our players understand the deflated ball better than they shoot the inflated ball.
Wins and losses aside, these young men go to Goergetown.

Not to mention, a lot has been written about the coach on this board, mostly negative. I think we all realize something has to change. If Coach is really committed to changing, I can understand the players willing to go along. Keeping both fingers cross that we have an uneventful summer, as far as bad news is concerned.

UNLV, with their new coach on board, is down to four players for next year, the rest transferred out or declared for the NBA. I hope we would be better than that.

I think everyone can be a bit guilty of seeing what they want to see.....good or bad. What is it exactly that you are trying to say about many of our posters here on HoyaTalk? Well, such as that we like to believe "our" players and the Gtown program in general are high above the typical negatives (such as selfishness) that afflict college athletics. Maybe we're right some of the times, but that shouldn't lead us to look (prematurely I might add) at the lack of transfers on a team following a tough, disappointing year and conclude that our guys just "get it" when it comes to priorities in ways that other players of other teams don't. Just my take. Maybe this time around it does come down to having a group of athletes who collectively want to stay and get better, stay and correct their mistakes. Or maybe III and his staff simply did a better job of selling disgruntled players into staying. Or maybe it was some special bond formed during the trip to Italy. Or maybe the guys just want to be able to practice in the new facilities.

Or maybe they all agree last year was DSR's fault and want a chance to play togetber without him. Is that good or bad?

Don't know quite where I fall in MCI's analysis, but my point was that maybe the kids simply realize that on balance Georgetown is a pretty great place to be.
