I know Cole is highly rated, however unless Mac or Akinjo declares after their freshman season which is i seriously doubt . we dont need him. Jagan is still going to be here. If you want Mac and James to stay here for long we better not get Cole because it seems like Cole is looking to be one and done.

How do you keep the stove hot with the great recruits while also waiting to see how things unfold with your current players. In my opinion, one of the major events that went against JT3 was that when Otto broke through and left...a bit unexpectantly...we didn’t have the depth to handle it...especially when we lost Whittington and others.

Akinjo and Mac should not stop you from getting Cole. You can play 3 guard sets and no player will be playing 40mpg.

Cole Anthony, PG, PSA Cardinals
Arguably the most productive player of the weekend, Anthony put up ridiculous numbers at the Nike EYBL, scoring 111 points in four games. His 27.8 points per game average was good enough for second in the EYBL. He also made more three-pointers than anyone on the weekend, connecting on 17 of 27 attempts (63-percent). Anthony added 9.2 rebounds and four assists a game. An explosive athlete, Anthony certainly made his case as the best guard in the 2019 class. Anthony is versatile, effective and was incredibly efficient this past weekend. Anthony was aggressive all weekend and used his lightning quick first step to get into the paint. Once at the rim, Anthony finished with floaters and utilized high and adjusting finishes. Anthony also showed improvement as a shooter from distance. A competitor, Anthony brought it on both ends of the floor and played like someone with something to prove.
Recruiting: Duke, North Carolina, Villanova, Oregon, Louisville, Wake Forest, Georgetown, Notre Dame, Michigan State, Michigan, UCLA & Maryland

You have the chance to land the top player at a position in its class you don’t hesitate. Wouldn’t go balls to he wall unless you are confident you are in very good standing.

One of the biggest priorities for this program in my opinion is to get a guard in the NBA. Landing Akinjo and Mac are HUGE for us, but there's no guarantee either of them pans out at the pro level. Getting a guy like Anthony and making him productive enough to warrant a high draft selection would completely change the perception recruits have of this school. We're still Big Man U, and while I love the proud tradition we have of producing dominant big men, winning at this level requires top tier talent top to bottom.
I also get the "rankings don't matter" crowd and by in large agree with it. But at the end of the day there is an important momentum swing that would come with landing a guy as highly ranked as Anthony that I don't think anyone can deny. You want to produce a compelling narrative to recruits that Georgetown is a place for players at every position to learn gritty, pro-level basketball that prepares you for the next stage of your basketball career. Landing guys like Cole will really help that pitch.

IF the staff has a real chance at Anthony, they give it a FULL COURT PRESS. Anthony will be one of the best players in the country as a freshman. Doesn't matter who else we have, who else is on the board. If Anthony will give Pat a chance, you go after him with everything we have.

I really dont get why Mac is rated very low, compare his game to Cole and James out of all 3 James is the best ball handler. Defensively yes Cole might be better but not by a mile.
Shooting Mac gets it, Athleticism Mac as well, passing they all have it.
We were able to see MAC against anfernee Simmons and immanuel quickly as well as JQ and there are glimpses that mac looks better. JQ is mostly Jelly which is easy to block in college and at the next level.

I love Mac and James but Cole Anthony averaged 19 7 and 4rbds last year on the toughest summer circuit against kids that are a class ahead of him. He just came off a weekend where he averaged 27 9 and 4assts. He shot over 60% from 3, and 90% from the line. He is an elite athlete and a + defender. He's one of the top prospects regardless of class.

Akinjo and Mac should not stop you from getting Cole. You can play 3 guard sets and no player will be playing 40mpg. If we got Cole then people like yourself will probably do an about-face and start insisting how we can't play three small guards at the same time and that either McClung or Akinjo or both would have to sit.

I would say the best team in the country has no problems with small lineups.

When have I ever done that? Hell I'd be ok with a 3 guard line-up this year even without Cole (Akinjo/Mac/Blair). I've always been a fan of a 3g line-up in today's basketball environment as long as your big (or bigs if you go 2g/2F) can rebound and your guards fight too. Honestly with how hard Pat continues to go after 2019 PGs, I think he will run 3 guard line-ups too.

Lol why is there even a thread on him? The chances of him coming here are ZE-RO.
Also, an even bigger lol @ that idea that we don't "need" Cole Anthony, the #1 PG in his class, because we will have a sophomore Mac McClung, who is not a PG anyway.
