"On the recruiting trail things have really picked up, and a big offer came Walker’s way recently. “Georgetown offered him after we won the state championship,” noted Mines. “A flock of schools are coming in late. South Carolina, Texas is coming in, Arkansas, Maryland, Miami, Providence, Pitt and a lot of big schools are coming in.”.....
"There was some talk about going to prep school and being a part of the 2017 class, but Mines now says the focus is on 2016."
“He is taking it all in, and I think prep school was an option before, but now that he is getting high-major interest, I think he is just looking for the right fit right now,” said Mines. “Going prep school is still an option, but he is exploring 2016 first.”
According to Mines, Walker is going to be making an unofficial visit to Georgetown on Friday to check out the campus. This is just the beginning though for Walker, who is just now focusing on the recruiting process.
“All the high-majors are just starting to come in,” said Mines. “I think he has always had a plan to make visits, but to where he doesn’t have a plan yet. He hasn’t talked too much about his leader or much like that.”

Anyone know how his visit ended up? Does the staff feel optimistic here? I see that he's getting some other major interest so he may wait things out a bit, I'd imagine

Just a hunch but I think he goes to a prep school next year to maximize his opportunities that started coming to him late in his high school career unless a school like Ohio St. who need players just to field a competitive team comes calling and he finds their program appealing. I know he has an offer from DePaul who is in a similar situation to Ohio St. in terms of having a large amount of players transfer out of the program. This is not a declaration on his abilities in any way. I actually think if he went to prep school, he would be a highly recruited player in the 17 class.

Any news on this one? Does Mulmore commitment affect? According to the scholarship table, if we sign another freshman in 2016 (or take a transfer with multiple years of eligibility), we won't have any scholarships available for 2017, unless someone leaves.

Thanks for the update. In that case, unless someone really good comes along, I say go for a graduate transfer if possible, and then pursue 2017 as hard as possible. For what it is worth, I think that most of us (myself included) assume that another scholarship will open up next year in addition to Cameron.

That would be a reasonable choice, and if so, I hope that the Hoyas stay involved.

Bringing in another freshman at this point I would think would be an issue for the 2017 group you want to go after. If you can find a 5th year guy who can contribute then let's bring him in, but if not you are better leaving that scholarship for '17 and hopefully adding Lykes to Foster and maybe one other of the players we are in on if another scholarship opens up.

I don't think he's going D1 next year. Unless UNLV, NC st. or Butler come calling, I doubt it as well. IMO he would be a top 100 caliber recruit and have a bunch of options hopefully including Georgetown if he transferred to a prep and reclassed to the 17 class.

"In a loss, the 6-7, 220-pound combo forward scored 12 points (2-6 from three), grabbed five rebounds and snagged three steals.
Afterward, Walker, a three-star prospect, told 247Sports that Georgetown is his top school and that he plans to visit although a date has not been scheduled yet....
"Georgetown is a really good program," Walker said. "They have an offense that can help me get to the next level."
He cited offers from James Madison as well as Georgetown. Interest is coming from Rhode Island, South Carolina and Xavier. Chris Mack was also on hand to watching Walker."
Rodney Pryor, Taurean Thompson, Antwan Walker, and as of now, only 1 scholarship remaining. Interesting....to say the least?

More insight on if Walker will be in the 16 Class or reclass to 2017
"One player who definitely drew a crowd on night one at the adidas Gauntlet was Antwan Walker. Currently a member of the 2016 class, Walker could be one of the best available prospects on the board. With head coaches looking on, Walker had a good showing.
While the numbers weren’t eye popping on night one for Walker, 12 points and 5 rebounds, how he got things done was very impressive. The 6-foot-7 power forward has long arms, high level athleticism, and an improving skill set.
After being the leader on the undefeated HD Woodson squad this past season, Walker has turned his game up even another notch lately. He hit a pair of three pointers tonight, and showed why more and more high-major schools are checking in on him. Head coaches such as John Thompson III of Georgetown and Chris Mack of Xavier were in attendance watching and assistants from South Carolina, Marquette, and Arkansas were also seen watching Walker.
Recently Walker took a visit to Georgetown which he described as a good trip, and he indicated that the Hoyas feel he would fit into their system and they want to take him as a member of the 2016 class or the 2017 class. At the moment Walker is still hoping to be a member of the 2016 class and says his core GPA is good enough to qualify, but he is waiting on getting a corresponding SAT score. If he does qualify look for Jackson to enroll as a member of the 2016 class and be one of the hottest commodities over the next month.
If he has to go to prep school and is a member of the 2017 class, Walker should get a ton of high-major interest and might be one of the top prospects in the prep ranks.

But, again, this team is in no position to 1) take a flyer on a kid with our current depth, 2) take a flyer on a wing, of any position. Staff offered him. Staff disagrees. He looks skilled. We'll see how it all shakes out. Exactly. The staff knows better, what a shocker.

I have nothing against this kid, but unless a forward on the team has told III he is leaving or Walker is going to prep school, this offer makes little sense. I like that he is an athlete, probably could help us on defense immediately. I like keeping local kids at Georgetown, but right now this program needs a guard so badly. That has to be the priority. So stop recruiting all other positions until a PG pops? I hate to break it to u but that's not how recruiting works
