Always found him entertaining - what a chameleon! Seemed like a very cool guy, as well.
He put out some great music over the course of his career. Rebel Rebel is one of my all-time faves from any artist.

And thanks to Bowie for giving a huge boost to the career of Stevie Ray Vaughn, one bad guitarist while he was on the planet.

I think he was talented, but was anyone else surprised by the amount of condolences and remembrances this week? Admittedly he was before my time, but I didn't think he was that historically important as an artist.

I was probably 10 or 11 when a friend of mine made me a copy of the Changesonebowie album and, although it was probably almost a decade old at the time, a lot of it sounded newer than what I was listening to at the time. There's a good amount of Bowie stuff that I've always really liked. Some I didn't like at all years ago. Some I still don't care for but other stuff that I've grown into. I have a feeling that, as I get even older, I'll appreciate more and more of his music even if I don't come to love it. He was, undoubtedly, from music to fashion to art to gender politics, a true original. An artist. May he rest in peace.

And thanks to Bowie for giving a huge boost to the career of Stevie Ray Vaughn, one bad guitarist while he was on the planet. Stevie was a beast. And to think he was able to bend the crap out of the notes that he did on the strings that he used is insane. No one uses that heavy a gauge. It's part of why you can always tell when he's playing. I have an old DVD of him playing some 12 string that is just mesmerizing to watch.

Admittedly he was before my time, but I didn't think he was that historically important as an artist. Was talking about this this morning with my wife. Pretty amazing outpouring of respect and admiration. Some really interesting posts I have seen on Facebook show just how diverse he was, from the absolute wackiness of this appearance on SNL Here to this really nice version of Heroes here. His loss has seemed to resonate much more than the loss of any artist I can recall recently. Definitely struck a chord with me.
