"On the recruiting trail Watson has offers from Georgetown, Virginia Tech, Maryland, Cincinnati, Xavier, Providence, Marquette, and others.
With a long list of offers, Watson says three schools are pursuing him the hardest at the moment. “Maryland, Providence, and Virginia Tech talk to me the most,” noted Watson.
Maryland is located close to home for Watson, and the Terps are telling him he has a definite role in their system.
“They just tell me that they really like me and they are really interested in me,” said Watson. “They think I can be a great player for them in the future.”
Ed Cooley and Providence are looking to add much needed size to their roster with the 2017 class, and Watson is someone they are building a good relationship with. “It is great with Providence,” explained Watson. “They say I am much needed and that I would fit in well with their program.”
Buzz Williams and his staff at Virginia Tech have made sure to recruit the DMV hard, and Watson is someone they are clearly trying to zero in on. “Virginia Tech is saying pretty much the same thing,” he explained. “They want me to come and feel I fit in well and would be valuable to their program.”
Currently there is no specific timeframe for a decision from Watson, but he does know what he is looking for in a school.
“I am looking for a school that is somewhat close to home, has a nice campus, and a nice crowd at their games,” explained Watson.

Since then, a throng of high-major schools have extended offers to Watson, who said the 10 colleges he is most interested are Kansas, Marquette, Maryland, Miami, North Carolina (pending an offer), N.C. State, Pittsburgh, Providence, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest. www.washingtonpost.com/news/recruiting-insider/wp/2016/05/13/oconnells-nate-watson-draws-invite-to-nbpa-top-100-and-attention-from-kansas-north-carolina-among-others/

Maybe he just saw the glut of frontcourt players and said no especially since most will be jrs or seniors when he gets here.

Recruitment: Maryland, Kansas, Georgetown, Cincinnati, Virginia Tech, Marquette, Wake Forest and others have offered. Bossi’s take: When I saw Watson during the high school season I thought he was solid but borderline as a high major prospect. There’s nothing borderline about him at this point. He’s strong, has a great feel for low post scoring and plays tough on both ends of the floor. basketballrecruiting.n.rivals.com/news/on-the-rise-top-spring-stock-boosters-in-2017

Has really come down to Earth lately could it be injury? Lots of teams backing off a bit, still think he's a talent
Nate Watson - 4.2 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 35.3 FG%, 71.4 FT% It’s fair to be a concerned about Watson now. The explosiveness from the spring has seemingly disappeared and he’s having trouble battling against some of the bigger post players. He runs the floor well, plays good defense and has decent offensive skills but the production just hasn’t been there and his upside.

DC Premier’s Nate Watson had a solid weekend overall at the Under Armour Finals, but he saved his best performance for last against the South Jersey Jazz. Watson was active on the boards and scored off several nice post moves on the block. The four-star post player says he’s cut his list down to seven schools and is now ready to move forward with the recruiting process. “N.C. State, Miami, Wake Forest, Maryland, Providence, North Carolina and Kansas, those are the only schools I’m still looking at,” Watson said. “I’ll probably make a decision sometime before the high school season starts.” Watson, the No. 75 ranked player in the 2017 Rivals150, says visits to N.C. State and Providence will likely take place in August, while a trip to Miami is in the works for October. Assistant coaches from Maryland, N.C. State, Miami and Wake Forest all watched his final game of the weekend on Sunday. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/underclassmen-impress-in-atlanta
