hoyajinx To continue our discussion here: this game definitely helped Cope getting into the positive and over Cameron (helped Hayes get positive too). Hell, Cope was positive until the Seton Hall game, carried by the fist two games of conference play (esp the first St Johns game). +/- is a far from perfect metric and can weigh big games but it does show us some things. Obviously Peak and DSR have been solid throughout BE play. Tre and Cope have had big games to push them over to the positive side, while Reggie and Hayes have been up and down through BE play. Derrickson is a bit of an outlier but that could be because hes been playing with the starters/top lineup. His lineups have done well of not giving up points at the very least. Interstingly Kaleb is very low, but I attribute that to the opposite of Doc: Kaleb is the last on the rotation and with the last lineup, plus is often assigned to a top guard that is already shooting well before Kaleb gets a crack.

I agree with much you have written. There are some strange things going on with respect to the BE season +/-, as you noted Marcus's is a bit unexpected at first glance. I appreciate that NJHoya does this and I definitely look at it after every game, but I think the +/- measure is better suited to play in isolated games rather than providing any substantial data over the course of the season. Given that, I think your analysis, especially in regard to Kaleb, is pretty spot on. I think his +/- certainly suffers as a result of how/when he is played.

It would likely be helpful to break this out in terms of team rankings too. Things that stand out at a glance are Peak's foul issues are really hurting us and Copeland needs to be better against the bigger opponents. Then again, we've had so many lineups that it's difficult to figure out how significant these numbers are. Interesting that in the UNCA game, DSR was a +4 and Kaleb was a -5. That doesn't tell the story of the game I watched at all. Most importantly, thank you for compiling and aggregating the numbers. I appreciate all that you do for the board. Many thanks. Too many numbers for me LOL.. j/k

Do those Butler totals add up? Doesn't the total have to equal the final deficit times 5? Or am I missing something?
