His mom is quoted on twitter saying he hasn't narrowed his list and in fact added extra offers.

"Kansas is the latest school to offer Brewster (N.H.) Academy power forward Taurean Thompson, his mother confirmed to SNY.tv.
"Yes, Coach [Norm] Roberts came to his game against South Kent and then offered him," Thompson's mother, Sherese, said.
She added that Wake Forest is also coming to see Thompson this weekend, and that Louisville and Arizona State have "expressed interest as well."

I know talent is talent but if we don't foresee anyone up front transferring wouldn't the Hoyas be better off holding on to this scholarship?

I know talent is talent but if we don't foresee anyone up front transferring wouldn't the Hoyas be better off holding on to this scholarship? If everyone is coming back healthy and the staff has a good feel for the 17 class i.e Jaren Jackson Jr., I agree 100% that its better to hold on to the scholarship. If the staff feels they need more depth up front maybe they will pursue a 5th year free agent. I haven't heard of the staff being actively involved (watching him play/visit him at Brewster) with Taurean Thompson's recruitment in over a month so maybe they have cooled a bit on him.

This team needs another big NEXT SEASON. Unless Mourning turns into a Bentil type.

This team needs another big NEXT SEASON. Unless Mourning turns into a Bentil type. We've got Govan, Agau, Mourning, and Derrickson. And Copeland and/or White can play as the PF given their height (Otto Porter did this a lot). I think that's actually a fair amount of depth.

Yeah I don't see the pressing need to bring in another big. I like our depth there. If we were to bring in a big I'd like it to be a true 5 man bc we already have crossover guys like Trey and Akoy. I think Thompson would be just more of the same

That's 6 returning players that can play significant minutes. We have two for the backcourt. Adding another front court player doesn't add up.

I say take him because we need some athletes in the back. Taurean is a more of a pogo stick that can block shots we need back there. We dont really have. Plus he can play out on the perimeter alot easier than most. He has range to 18-20ft. I would take him in a second.

Well, we can't be short-sighted either. We might be losing 1-3 of these guys next year. That will give him a year to develop as a freshman.

What about this past season makes one think that we couldn't use some fresh blood? If this guy is a rim protector with a high ceiling, go get him. I would say that if there is a more than decent 5th year PG out there, that would be priority number 1. But there is no promise we get Jackson, Lykes or any other of our 2017 targets. Go get talent when its available.

There is only one true post returning next year and that is Govan. He is far from a finished product, particularly in terms of his defense. Akoy is coming off an injury and a couple of years of inactivity--a classic case of unknown potential. Mourning is not a post. Instead he is more of a 3-4 player with size and some athleticism. I know that the consensus is that there needs to be another guard, but that does not eliminate the need for another post player who can play the 5, defend and grab rebounds. If Govan fails to make the sophomore leap, the post position could quickly become a major problem next year.
This team surely needs a quick guard who can defend, create his own shot, shoot respectably from deep and handle the ball. That is not an impossible task if the coaching staff focuses on somewhat proven players in the juco ranks or 5th year transfers. However,as limited as Hayes was as a player, his absence was a significant blow to the team and demonstrated completely the reason you need another post player next year.

Uconn and Arizona both just offered him.interesting move this late in the process, not sure what this would imply.

Uconn and Arizona both just offered him.interesting move this late in the process, not sure what this would imply. If I was him, I would be weary at an offer he is receiving this late especially from UCONN who has Brewster Academy relatively in it's regional back yard and has recruited several Brewster players in the past. They had to have seen him plenty of times and didn't offer, tells me he is an after thought and they didn't get players they had higher on recruiting board so they would be settling for Thompson. When this happens and the prospect commits to a school that is fully aware of him and offers him extremely late, the prospect usually gets recruited over the very next year and ends up transferring within 2 years. Arizona can can use the distance from Brewster as an excuse but Brewster is a national program and Thompson is considered a Top 100 Nationally Ranked player so if he's smart he shouldn't fall for that. To me it's a huge red flag when a program offers a highly touted prospect very late in the process without extenuating circumstances such as decommitment by the prospect from another program or a new coaching staff at the program who jumped into the mix late. Arizona and UCONN don't have either circumstances. I'm interested to see how his recruiting shakes out. I don't think Georgetown is still active participant in his recruitment. Just a hunch but I could be wrong. I'm curious because he is getting a lot of love late in the process (Kansas, Arizona, UCONN) but he has to be careful in the decision he makes, otherwise we could see him going through this again in a year or two. I predict he will end up at Kansas, with Syracuse or Seton Hall as possibilities.

I'm pretty sure we aren't still actively involved with Taurean Thompson but here's some info on him anyways. Was offered by Josh Pastner in one of his first official moves at Georgia Tech.
