And Vitale probably thought the discrepancy wasn't large enough. Was the discrepancy warranted? I could only watch the first 10 minutes or so of the game. Well, VCU has little half court offense. Little ball movement. It's basically just jacking up 3s in the half court sets. Most of their points come off running or off turnovers off the press where there's usually less fouling.

Please, PLEASE let us win this one.
I was foolish to choose to spend my life with a Duke grad. A win on Sunday won't stop the ribbing I get for this past March, but it may give me a little peace.

I was really surprised to hear that we play at 1. As I understand it, Duke as a condition insisted on the early game. Like the match up. We have a chance. Did they insist on that win or lose? So if VCU had beaten them, they'd play Wisconsin at 1pm? If so, that's pretty impressive.

I mean Duke looked good but they don't have an Okafor or Jabari Parker this year from what I saw so I think they are beatable.

The keys will all be on defense. Can we keep our men in front and can we finish possessions with rebounds? Those are weaknesses generally, so it will be interesting to see how we do.
Duke, in the early going, is a bad defensive team. They have played a lot of zone (for them) and I expect that to continue against us. We haven't seen that yet. But I would think with the shooting options at the five (either with Jesse or by going small) we have the tools to kill a zone. Just so long as we don't settle for quick threes.
Two other quick points: Sure, its house money. But it is also a big opportunity to essentially zero out the Radford loss. But let's all try to focus on continued growth instead of the result. We have gotten better every game. Win or lose, let's hope for no regression.
Second, can we dispense with some of the anti-Duke talk? The misspelling of their school is childish (why would we do that? We aren't UNC.). It makes us look silly. I think LJ can get their guards in foul trouble....

This game comes down to whether we can weather two storms. 1. If Jefferson and Plumlee kill us on the offense boards. They both are energy guys who will kill us if we rebound like we have the 1st 3 games. 2. Handling the man pressure. No stupid ball handling turnovers and especially no live ball turnovers.

Didn't realize rooting for college basketball was such a serious endeavour. Other then that, good points

I disagree with comments like; "we have a chance" and "we are playing with house money". I bet JT3 does too, and hopefully the team. The Hoyas don't merely have "a chance", they have an opportunity to show the college basketball world what a talented team we have. We did not play our best game last night and still beat Wisconsin, although the Badgers do not seem to be anywhere near the final four team they had last year. We played a really good game v UMD, but were unable to finish. In short, we have not yet played to our full potential - or at least as full as it can be with our currently limited roster.
Tomorrow, I am expecting GU to come out ready to win and they have far more than merely a chance to do so. This team is talented AND motivated. We looked terrible v Radford. We missed an opportunity to knock off #3 UMD at their house. We beat Wisc. convincingly, and now we can prove how good our Hoyas are by beating one of the highest profile teams in the country. Won't be easy, but this team has the ability to get it done.

To win tomorrow, we have to get off to a fast start, score early and put pressure on them. Keep rebounding aggressively and limit silly fouls. If everbody plays like they did last night, we can win tomorrow, but we have to play smart. The refs are Duke's 6th man and we all know it. Will be at the game tomorrow and feel positive about this one. Excited about play of Peak, Cameron, Copeland and Govan. Would like to see more of Derrickson and a much earlier and better start for DSR. Go Hoyas.

while i hope we have a good start, i'm pretty convinced no matter what, this game will be within 7 points in either direction with 5 minutes left. neither team is going to run away with this win. we're going to have a chance to win this thing, and call me crazy, but i say we will pull it off.

I did notice during our game last night, whenever they showed the bracket, it did not list a time for the Championship game - clearly they had to wait and see what happened with Duke.

Allen's the key guy to focus on stopping, obviously. Kentucky held him in check and won going away. I think LJ and Kaleb can rotate on Allen and have a great chance to succeed, they give up nothing against him from a size and athleticism standpoint.
Plumlee needs to be boxed out and held off the offensive boards. Need Bradley and Govan to put a body on him whenever a shot goes up.
The other guys don't scare me at all. Completely unimpressed by Ingram and Kennard. I actually like our freshman class better than Duke's.
We have a major depth advantage even without Tre and White.
Extremely winnable game if the team plays with smarts and tenacity from the tip. Also need DSR to stay out of foul trouble. Will be fun to watch...

I will make sure not to misspell Puke - they are sickening with their floor slapping, slavering refs, a** kissing media and total academic hypocrisy.
