If the reports of his speech to Asian leaders in Kuala Lampur are accurate, it is a new low even for him. To advise young Asian leaders to "avoid the pitfalls" of the United States while on foreign soil is disgraceful.
To publicly decry, while abroad representing our nation, the campaign finance game he plays better than anyone is appalling.
To talk about a government divided along racial lines while traveling as our head of state is pathetic.
I cannot comprehend his desire to run down our country while abroad.

Don't you know he was born in Kenya? On edit: sarcasm meter on high, btw... I better point that out since it's a political thread and they can get nasty faster than an Esh thread...

Classic elvado, but can you provide a link to whatever molehill you're currently outraged by and trying to turn into a mountain?

Can not link but it is in today's Washington Times, article by Dale Boyer.
If it does not bother you I respect your opinion. He might not even be wrong. However, the forum clearly was.

And then ran down the US while doing it. Defend it all you like. He crapped on the US while traveling abroad and should be ashamed of himself.
Luckily, for him, he is shameless.

If you try really hard, one can be offended by anything. I feel like the right is sometimes sort of a funhouse mirror of the hypersensitivity it sees on the left.

You may be right. On reflection it is not that big of a deal. More like a micro aggression, if you will...

So I guess we all agree that he did not hit a new low.
Ben Carson on the other hand...

Even conceding that his comments may have been accurate (I do not) he was completely out of line to make those comments abroad while representing the US.
However, I concur with SaxaCD that it is not a new low, but rather the same sad low he entered with.

Is he supposed to parade around like Kim Jong Un and just ignore our country's faults, including some very prominent flaws that are both relevant to the speech and hard to ignore, and portray it as a utopia?

Addressing our country's faults in our country is one thing. Laying them out while abroad is quite another. If you can't see that, so be it. Of course, the idea of just keeping his mouth shut in the topic would never occur to Mr. Obama. This is, of course, the same leader who hit the ground running with his 2009 Apology Tour of the Globe. That has sure worked out great.

This is a sincere opinion, but I think the Republicans have just about killed the idea that you keep it in the family. Tom Cotton + 46, and his penpal the Ayatollah, Jim Inhofe and Mitch McConnell trying to undermine climate deals - that line's been crossed - American politics are just about fair game now abroad now. Obama went nowhere near criticizing an opposing party and in this context even made the point that you have to talk to people with opposing viewpoints. Admitting that we have flaws while talking about Asia's issues is not talking about the opposition or the country out of turn.

He was on foreign soil not running down a particular party, rather our entire nation. It is not right and responding that others have done it before does not make it right. Parenthetically, none of your mentioned offenders was President.
