1st game of the season.... I mean this is some stupid.... No, it's naive to think this is about one game. It's about the last 7-8 years of bad losses & early exits in the NCAA tournament with this coaching staff. NCAA results 2008- lost 1st round 2009- NIT 2010- lost 2nd round 2011- lost 1st round 2012- lost 2nd round 2013- lost 1st round 2014- NIT 2015- lost 2nd round This coaching staff hasn't made it to the 2nd weekend of the NCAA tournament in over 8 years!!! Sorry that's not just one game, that's a pattern of underperforming. I think your posts show a pattern Of underperforming...lol You're not going to fire a coach after the 1st game of the season.. not sure if serious..

Yes. Is this record of high seeds and getting to the tournament a failure or underperformance? Absolutely not. People always seem to forget that getting to the NCAA tournament with a high seed isn't a given. Being the high seed and constantly losing to 10-15 seeds, makes it even worse. The coaching staff is either being out coached or hasn't prepared the team during these games. The fact that they "play down to the competition" on a yearly basis in these NCAA tournament games is on the coaching staff. A pattern is a pattern. Players have changed, the coaches haven't.

I think the more alarming concern is that some people realize that since the Final Four in 2007 or since President Obama has been in office. .. JTIII has not won consecutive games in an NIT or NCAA Tournament. That is a long time.

So you'd rather have a coach where we barely get into the tournament, instead? Because then it wouldn't be as bad? This makes no sense.

I never said I wanted anyone fired, especially right now after only one game. All I said was JT3 should be on the hot seat. We all know this team has had some very bad seasons & horrible losses the last 7-8 years. He should be evaluated like any other coach. Being the son of John Thompson shouldn't stop that evaluation.

The man wants to coach. No NBA team has given him a shot. Not sure if he would be interested in the college game. But not a bad idea.

Except, the Thompsons essentially are Georgetown basketball. I can promise you that if JTIII was not the coach, and his dad was not still involved, there is no way the practice facility would have ever been built. I mean, you may not like that (and have every right to feel that way), but the reality is they are the core of the program and that's not going to change anytime soon. In that sense, I don't think they are - or should be - evaluated the same way as a random coach.

How will this discussion change when we are 0-4. A sickeningly real possibility.

After going through the Esh years, count me on the "JT3 is not going anywhere" group. It has to get very, VERY ugly around here.

This is nuts.
If this was another NCAA tourney loss then sure, this thread is warranted, but this is the first game of the season. Terrible loss no doubt but come on. Concerning going forward but what happens if we go 3-0 this week? (Far fetched maybe but just pointing out the opposite).
III is not without blame in general I disagree with a lot of things but to fully panic after one game is nuts.
Embarrassing loss. It's how the team response from here that's the true test.

You either fire a coach or you don't... Your entire "evaluation" is based on the NCAA tournament which makes it impossible to respect your opinion in my eyes. There's 0 balance to your argument but don't let that stop you, please carry on....

It's not far-fetched to go 3-0 or 2-1 next week. In fact, if we are to go by previous OOC results, I expect it. JT3 has had tremendous November, December and January success in tough OOCs over his time at GU. It's the mind-boggling losses against similar teams that remind us of tremendous March failures. The common denominator in all or most of those losses has been the lack of intensity or lack of preparation or coming out cold or not able to respond to the other team's punches or whatever other cliche you want to use to describe it.

Not trolling. I have long stood by JT3 but today was awful. We position for position could not defend RADFORD. Wasn't even close. What about that performance makes you think we can defend the next 3 teams on our schedule. Maybe there could be some optimism if we had shown some offensive prowess to suggest we could shoot our way past our terrible defense. Instead our offense seemed to minimize our skill set. Or maybe we have no skill set cuz we sure didn't do a good job getting open. Hope I'm surprised but hard to not be concerned when we are so susceptible to losing to bad teams. That was a rudderless ship out there today.

But, the same goes for this game. there's not denying that it reminds us of March failures, ODU failures, losing to 1-win DePaul or USF. JT3's teams come out flat or underestimate bad opposition. Check the post-game interview. Like always after a failure, JT3 does not know why the team came out flat and why his team gets outhustled. This time around, DSR took full responsibility about coming out flat and staying flat throughout the first half, and how that affected he rest of his teammates. Kudos to him for recognizing it and accepting it.

Totally agree. And it's extremely frustrating. Something needs to change. Don't take that as excusing today's performance and it starts at the top. However for anyone to call for the coaches head after the first game of the season is crazy. Have we flamed out in the tourney? Yes. Are we all sick of it? Hell yes. Does something need to change to not make us a punch line? Absolutely. I'm not going to defend anyone. All I want is to see what happens this week and the weeks following and go from there. Hopefully we look back at the end of this season and laugh about how we could have possibly lost this one after our elite 8 run

Everybody is going crazy about this loss. Right now it does seem like a terrible loss. But what if Radford beats another high major team on the road in the OOC and plays some close games against another. What I f after that they go ahead and win their conference regular season by a few games and their conference tournament, then win an NCAA tournament game as a 13 seed. All that is still possible. I'm not worried about that loss. It was the 1st game of the season. It's happening all over the country. Senior laden mid majors are beating young high major teams. We are very young outside of DSR. It happened, now we all have to be Radford fans going forward and hope they have a great season. I am more concerned about the lack of effort, IQ and energy of the perimeter players (DSR, Peak, Campbell, and Copeland). I footage believe today's game was an outlier and not the norm because they as a group haven't played like that before. All in all, we will be fine.
