Don't know how that's about me but that's ok I'm sure you and the others do.
Sounded like chest pumping but apologize if you are just saying we need to have a very successful season (e.g., 2nd weekend) or it will be a huge failure then we are on the same page.

So, the lousy recruiter who is 'too stubborn to adapt' landed a 5th year starting center, a JUCO second team All American guard, and a grad transfer guard scoring machine in the spring. All of whom plug glaring needs. The pieces are in place... Ha. I like that he's being proactive and clearly realizes what a disaster last season was - but we thought he had the pieces last season too. Let's see what he does with these new pieces now. I hope he can turn it around.

Clearly what I meant is the pieces are there to have a successful season. That includes success in both the regular season and the postseason(s).

Sounds like a plan but I think we can all agree regular season success just equals frustration if we don't convert in the postseason. It's about March. Let's fix this thing after what seems like a decade because I suppose that's what it's been since we had any meaningful success.

JT# will be our coach for the next year, no matter what the haters say. Can we close this thread until next March.

I suspect the non haters will have other reasons to post here as recruiting for 2017 and 2018 proceed but I suspect the haters may want to post here every time we lose a game next season! On the other hand many of us are hoping there won't be any opportunity for those posts. The summer of hopeful optimism and Kenner is around the corner!

Hey skyhoya, this was a thread that was dormant for eight days then you post this. They tend to take care of themselves. I think we need an aggressive coach to take advantage of what we have? How about you?

Interesting read. One thing that jumped out at me, and it was certainly not a central point of the article, was the following sentence: "It's just that recent history suggests if you're going to try to hire one of them -- or somebody like them -- you'd better be the AD at a place like North Carolina, Duke, Kentucky, Kansas, Indiana, Arizona, Texas, Ohio State, Louisville or UCLA." In my mind, one of those things doesn't belong with the others. I might argue that 3 or 4 don't belong but one was really glaring to me. Take a guess which one...

No basketball program does less with more.

Except that Texas gets on that list because they were able to lure Shaka Smart away from VCU. They succeeded where others (i.e. Marquette) failed.

Yeah, I don't think Texas belongs but the Shaka Smart thing does throw a monkey wrench in that. To me, Ohio State is a total outlier to that group. I must be missing something.

Very interesting article, and I think it's in line with arguments made many times in this thread that hiring a very high quality coach (regardless of that coach's salary) is very difficult, if not impossible unless you are a blue-blood (Gary Parrish's version of "top 10").
