No personal gripe either way with Summers, but it seems he has detractors for both his undergraduate days (not a team player) and after Georgetown (not connected to the program).
The fan base expects the NBA players to stay close to the program and to show a certain loyalty to it, whether in campus appearances, Kenner League sightings, media reports etc. Green, Hibbert, Monroe, Wright, Ewing Jr., Sims, and Porter have all been visible about their connections back to Georgetown, while you hear very little if anything from Summers. Another outlier in this discussion is Hollis Thompson, who stayed to himself at GU and does the same in the NBA.
Granted, not every former player stays close to the program but Summers is probably a little more visible, which is why we're not talking about someone else.

I have bittersweet memories of a dunk he had toward the end of the Davidson meltdown. He caught the ball and went straight to the rim- defenders be damned. I just wish he and others had employed that strategy sooner.
Plus, perhaps the highlight of the 2009 season was his dunk against YOU CON. I still smile when I think about that.
Summers was a fine Hoya who seemed to play hard and with heart, and I will continue to support him 100%.

... seemed to play hard and with heart, and I will continue to support him 100%. Do not agree. Good/Bad DaJuan took many plays off after shooting and did not mix it up for rebounds or defense. Why recolor history? It is what it is. That does not mean we do not support him. On the contrary, we wish him the best and he is still young enough to have a fruitful NBA career. In all my years in HT and as a GU basketball fan, I have not seen an alumni or a poster who wishes ill on an alumni player. It is silly to think otherwise. We want as many former Hoyas in the NBA as possible. On edit: lets stop another back and forth on DaJuan in this thread. There are plenty of those to chose from in HT's archives. This thread was started by Michael with the best of intentions. Hoyalove, I also respect your opinion, but just do not agree with it.

No disrespect to your opinion, pr- I just did not see that when I watched DaJaun.

I want to give props to Michael, the thread starter, for having the initiative to come to HoyaTalk and invite us to his team's games. Very smart and creative...

Wasn't he benched by JT3 during his junior year? Yes, he was. You must be thinking of Jessie Sapp. Summers started every game that season.

I really hope DS makes the Knicks so I can watch them and feel less like I need a shower after being witness to another Melo show.
That said, it's not opinion to say that DS was, to be kind, often disinterested in rebounding. It was infuriating to watch at times.

Well, now you are changing the whole thing. Your first statement implied that Summers was singled out and benched. Now you are talking about the starters being subbed out en masse in one game when the team was playing poorly. That is not related to the topic of Dajuan Summers being criticized unfairly on HoyaTalk. Do you bring up this one-time benching as a significant event in the careers of Wright, Freeman, or Monroe, or is Summers the only one who is defined by a poor start in one game?

Well, now you are changing the whole thing. No, it is the same thing. I asked and you answered incorrectly. Again, this thread was started by a representative of DaJuan's employer. I don't think we need to discuss his time as a Hoya once again here.
