Caron Butler has a book out and it includes his version of the inside story re: that famous Wizards gun play episode. Seems it was real. Excerpt“Hey, MF, come pick one,” Gilbert told Javaris while pointing to the weapons. “I’m going to shoot your [expletive] with one of these.”
“Oh no, you don’t need to shoot me with one of those,” said Javaris, turning around slowly like a gunslinger in the Old West. “I’ve got one right here.”
He pulled out his own gun, already loaded, cocked it, and pointed it at Gilbert. Butler said everyone in the locker room was afraid Crittenton would in fact pull the trigger.nypost.com/2015/10/07/the-chilling-inside-story-of-the-nbas-wizards-gun-duel/

History foretelling itself, apparently. Very sad how Crittenton wasted his life.

Whoa!!! I had no idea that the incident was that dramatic. I thought that it was a light-hearted exchange between Arenas and Crittendon, not Crittendon pointing a loaded gun at Arenas, players running out of the locker room in fear and the police being called. I recall that Gilbert Arenas got suspended for the rest of the year after making a mockery of the incident before a road game against the 76ers, but don't remember what happened with Crittendon. Did he finish that year with the Wizards? If he did, how could the Wizards let him stay with the team after he pointed a loaded gun at a teammate at the team facility!!!

I just found an article in which Gilbert Arenas somewhat disputes Caron Butler's version of what happened. Apparently, when Arenas was made aware of Caron Bulter's version of the story, he responded on Instagram with a series of rants, that he has since deleted. Arenas claimed that Crittendon owed him and others money. Crittendon got mad that Arenas brought it up and told him, "If We Were In The Streets I'd Pop You In Your Knees", Arenas responded, "I'll Give You The Guns To Do It On Monday." Arenas then says he arrived to the gym on Monday and placed 4 guns on Crittendon's chair with a note that said "Pick One." When Crittendon arrived, he wondered what was going on, Arenas said, "You Said You Were Going To Shoot Me, There Go The Guns Pick One" Where Arenas story really differs from Butler's story is Arenas claims that Crittendon pulled a little silver gun that Eddie Murphy used in Harlem Nights. He wouldn't say if it was loaded or pointed at him because he doesn't want to bash a man who can't defend his name. Arenas then claims he started laughing and said "Put That Harlem Nights gun away. Look At The Guns I'm Giving You, Imagine What I Have At Home, You Can Keep Those." Arenas said the situation ended there. He said Javale McGee took Arenas' guns back to his car and Butler hid Crittendon's gun. He then said him and Crittendon talked in the Jacuzzi afterwards(Arenas said Crittendon is a hot head) and then they began to shoot baskets. Arenas also said that he gave Crittendon $60,000 to help his mother with medical bills. Gilbert Arenas version sounds more believable because when this incident was first made public, it was portrayed like a somewhat light-hearted situation, which is what Arenas described. Also the article mentioned that Crittendon was also suspended for the rest of the year and never played again in the NBA so that answered the question I had in my last post. sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nba-ball-dont-lie/gilbert-arenas-disputes-caron-butler-s-re-telling-of-the-javaris-crittenton-gun-incident-181036728.html
