Looks like the staff is zeroing in on Whitney, Scott, and others to fill that Point Forward role. Or at least those are the kids they have the most traction with.. Not sure of our chances here but think this kid is being under-recruited ..

Recruiting tall, agile ball handlers is a great strategy, perhaps moreso on the defensive end. Lengthy players with lateral agility can switch in man-to-man to cover multiple positions (1-4) and can be super effective closing out and guarding the 3-point line.
Jerome Williams, Jeff Green, and Greg Whittington are 3 great examples. Pickett fits the mold as well.
Me likey.

Not sure of our chances here but think this kid is being under-recruited .. Highly under recruited to this point. I have no idea if its because of his perceived love of UCONN or the belief he wants to go to a high academic university but his offers vs his potential don't match. Could see him have a monster July in terms of offers. His build an and game reminds me of Darius Bazley...

I'm going to be a broken record by the end of this recruitment, but I'm hoping Georgetown can step up the recruitment of Jaiden DeLaire for selfish reasons (he's from my hometown and high school). Did some digging, looks like he went to his local high school for two years (2014-2016) playing basketball, football, and track and field ( www.athletic.net/TrackAndField/SchoolRecords.aspx?SchoolID=14755 ). His freshman year, if these stats are correct, show that he didn't play a ton ( www.maxpreps.com/athlete/jaiden-delaire/hubBc4bUEeS-8KA2nzwbTA/gendersport/basketball-stats.htm ). Then his sophomore year (http://www.hudl.com/profile/5059070/Jaiden-Delaire) he was on the second team all state for his school's division ( www.gametimect.com/2015-16-chsca-state-boys-basketball-teams/ ) and was listed at 6'4"/6'5". When he transferred to Loomis Chaffee, he repeated his Sophomore year (https://newenglandrecruitingreport.com/news/prep-transfer-list-1). For the 2016-2017 season he was 6'7" with a 7'0" wingspan, and he ended up on the NEPSAC second team for his school's division. This past season he's listed at 6'8" with a 7'1" wingspan and was on the NEPSAC first team for his school's division, and was named the Gatorade player of the year for Connecticut. He averaged 21.3 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game, though he did sit out seven games early in the season with an injury. He can shoot from deep, handle the ball, drive, and it sounds like his length is an asset on defense. Academically there are a few mentions in local papers of him getting high honors in middle school, and he currently has a 3.47 GPA in high school. He volunteers as a campus tour guide and volunteers with Special Olympics events held on campus. His cousin is Ryan DeLaire who played in the NFL. About the potential UConn lean, Ollie was on DeLaire early, offering him in June 2017 when he only had offers from UMass, Yale, Rider, and Iona. In my area of Connecticut, and most of Connecticut, UConn basketball (both men's and women's) is a huge thing and there are a ton of fans. I remember during the 1999 NCAA championship game people joking that the streets were empty with everyone watching the game. Even in DeLaire's hometown Rebecca Lobo's mom is a middle school guidance counselor and father is a science teacher. That being said, with the new coach at UConn and with UConn's recent down play, it's certainly possible that it could be enough to have him look elsewhere, especially if he decides that academics are a bigger factor in the school he selects. newenglandrecruitingreport.com/recruits/jaiden-delaire-2019

I agree; looks like he has a versatile game; what’s not to like? Hope we ramp up our recruitment of him.

It seems like there are very few commitments from players at this stage. Is that normal? Are players thinking the one and done will be removed, thus clearing them to go straight to the NBA?

How horrible for his family, his friends, his teammates.
Be thankful for every day we have.
