Tragedy to triumph is what is in line for Nahshon Hyland. The 6-foot-3 senior has gone through his fair share of hurdles in recent months, difficulties that no high school prospect should ever have to endure. However, it is the fight in Hyland that has led him to this point where he is edging towards his high-major breakout which he displayed on Friday evening. Finishing with game-high honors of 24 points, the quick twitch athlete is tracking as one of the top available seniors this spring. How did he get to this point? In March of 2018, Hyland was sitting in his room where a fire broke out. He had to jump from his two-story window to escape for his own life which led to ligament damage, forcing him to sit out the entire travel ball season last summer. That was the least of concerns as the blazing fire led to the deaths of a younger brother and grandmother. Holding offers from Delaware, Rhode Island, Seton Hall, St. Joe’s, and Temple, Hyland has already been to the campus at St. Joe’s and Temple for official visits, though a new wave of suitors has emerged. Hyland told Rivals.com that Georgetown, Maryland, Pitt, Providence and VCU are among the schools that are in constant contact with him, though VCU is the only school that has offered. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/uaa-friday-the-redemption-of-nahshon-hyland

Hyland certainly showed his potential on Saturday. A quick, aggressive guard, Hyland did a good job setting up teammates and facilitating, but also showed a natural scoring ability. “I think I have been playing really good,” Hyland said. “I’m taking my time. Scoring and doing everything for us to win.” “I developed that playing over time,” he said about his blend of distributing and scoring. “I just learned that playing over time and feel like that’s just the right way of doing it.” It should be no surprise that recruiting is starting to pick up for Hyland. “I’m starting to get some high major calls so taking my time with that and hopefully they offer and I can see where I’m at with that,” Hyland said. The schools that have prioritized him are Maryland, DePaul, Georgetown, Pittsburgh, Wake Forest, TCU, Seton Hall, Saint Joseph’s and Temple. Thus far he’s taken visits to Saint Joseph’s and Temple. Hyland said he doesn’t have a timeframe for making his college choice. 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/Article/NahShon-Hyland-Available-2019-Guard-131187903/

State Player of the Year in Delaware. Think I could talk myself into him if we are looking for a 4 year guy (ie. not a grad transfer) and "Cole Anthony Harris" doesn't pan out.

Rooting for this kid no matter where he ends up. Glad to hear he’s back performing at a high level.

Who exactly is Bizzy Bones? What is his real name? I GOT IT...needed to go back in the thread. I wish him well, he's endured a rough and harsh experience. He has a nice handle though it is high.
I hope Coach Ewing has a plan, an ace in the hole. I trust he does, but things are really quiet. Which is generally a good thing, but it makes me anxious. Players will be reporting for summer school in two months!

A slew of Division I programs remain on the lookout for talent this spring in completing their rosters for next season, which makes the case of Nahshon Hyland more pertinent. A skinny but fierce competitor at the scoring guard spot, Hyland can go and get a basket with the best of them. VCU has offered and remains in hard pursuit, although a bevy of other power programs are showing interest, as his commitment remains far off. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/under-armour-association-the-evans-awards

Nahshon Hyland, PG, We R 1 It’s easy to cheer for 2019 guard Nahshon Hyland. Last year he escaped from his families burning house. To make matters worse, he hurt his meniscus and missed the entire spring and summer. He showed up at the Under Armour Association with an opportunity and he took advantage of it. Hyland looked every bit the high major prospect we thought he was when we saw him in 2017. At 6-foot-3, Hyland has a tremendous blend of running a team and facilitating mixed with scoring from all three levels. He’s thin and lacking in strength, but he makes up for it with his toughness. He has a quick first step, competes on both ends and is creative off the bounce. Watched this kid a ton. He has a lot of the same faults as Akinjo. He has a tendency to overdribble. He can get caught up with the back and forth(trash talking). But he’s fearless, wants to take the big shot, and is a straight pit bull on the court.
Coach would have to reign him in but he would be a nice add imo. Not sure how serious our interest is in him.

I'm assuming this means that Jameer Nelson Jr. visited Georgetown on April 13th after visiting GW on April 12th. He committed to GW on April 16th.

Sounds more like a social visit than a recruiting It's certainly possible, I just feel like it'd be odd to thank the staff if it was just a social visit to Ewing. He posted a similar tweet about their visit to GW ("I wanna thank @jamionchristian and his staff for having us today."), though that one included a picture.
