Agree. Fantastic idea and I'm glad to hear that Greg is involved as well. I'd love for Jeff to participate at some point and discuss coming back and finishing his degree as well for the relatively few guys in that room that will be able to make a living playing at the next level.

Excellent idea. Whoever came up with it and is making this happen deserves major Kudos - as does Greg for being willing to help out - Randy Foye too. It is easy for us to forget what a huge transition it is for HS kids to suddenly be playing high profile games in major arenas and on TV. Professional advice and sharing experiences will be very valuable... to the kids who are willing to listen and take it all in. Great move by the BE.

How do you not love our Hoyas? I'm very happy to know that our guys are representing the BE and passing along their experiences and the importance of their educations to the younger guys. Hoya Saxa, gents. Well done.

Camera angles can be deceptive, but Jess certainly doesn't look shorter than Greg Monroe! Great to see PE Jr. back involved too.

Pretty sweet that the Big East let all the freshmen come up to NYC to see My Morning Jacket.

Hold up. All of the Gtown frosh were quoted which means they talked to the media. Has III changed the rules or is this Freshman event going to be a special exception going forward?

Hold up. All of the Gtown frosh were quoted which means they talked to the media. Has III changed the rules or is this Freshman event going to be a special exception going forward? I would guess it's certainly the exception to the rule. Considering it's the first year of the event and it was designed to include only freshmen, they are pretty much the only ones that can promote it. I think the intent of the program is terrific and I'm very proud that Pat and Greg were a part of it. I hope that future years expand to include guest speakers that run the gamut of former players. Those that played exclusively overseas, those that never made it professionally, those that excelled at the highest level and planned well for life after basketball, and also those that made missteps or, worst case, lost it all. I love the idea of this and I believe it could be incredibly valuable to all of the undergraduate players. There are so many Hoyas that have gone down so many different paths professionally with basketball and without that I really feel that, if some alums/former players are interested in being involved, they could do a great service for their younger counterparts. On a related note, is there any plan in the works for something similar for the women's teams? I have seen many interviews/bios/films over the years about the difficulties of playing overseas for women in terms of salary and cultural differences and adjustments that a good portion of them seem to not be ready to deal with. We have a pretty solid alumni network for students that aren't student athletes. I'd love to see a push to do the same for the student athletes too. Don't get me wrong, I have a ton of respect for the guys that come back to Kenner and to campus in general to work with the younger guys. I don't know how common that is at other schools but I freaking love that some of our guys do that. I only mean that I'd love to see more of that same notion off of the court.
