The cowardice of the GOP is staggering. How many times did they pass symbolic repeals they knew would get vetoed? Now with a President ready to sign, they can't get together on a deal because they are afraid to own it. Walking advertisements for term limits the whole lot of them. Maybe they should have taken the time over the past 7+ years to come to internal agreement on what they wanted to replace Obamacare with. That's the only way this would have passed in the 2 weeks allotted to it by Trump... No argument here

ACA didn't make the floor of the House floor until November, and that was rammed down our throats? This has been a fascinating 60+ days.

Trump has pretty much failed in everything he's put forth, from his travel ban to Obamacare repeal. Mr. only I can fix it blaming other for his failures is vintage Trump. The master negotiator went up to the hill to lobby votes and his pitch actually lost them. Aide's said off record they had an easier time selling it without Trump. He has no grasp of policy and it's obvious. Bannon walked into Freedom Caucus meeting, said "This is not a debate. You have no choice but to vote for this bill." One of them replied. "The last time someone ordered me to do something, I was 18. And I didn't listen to them either.... His Family advisers spent the week on a skiing vacation. Can't wait for him to show his vast knowledge and master negotiation skills in the Foreign Policy realm.... If you thought incompetence wasn't enough, you're in luck. Trump is always down to add a little vulgarity into the mix. NYT is out with a story about how on Abe's visit to the US Trump couldn't stop commenting on his translators breasts, and in Trumps own "flagrant fashion".... However for Trump himself things appear to be going well. Mar-a-Lago fees are up, Chinese trademarks approved, Ivanka's sales are up, Jared had 400 million worth of debt erased by the Chinese, Trump hotel is booming, US government leasing space at Trump Tower, etc... Oh and Eric Trump said a couple weeks ago "They're brand has never been hotter!" Politico out with an article today saying that Eric Trump will share business updates with father 'probably quarterly'. That's a great blind trust, but no worries, as we know the Trump's are extremely ethical people. MTGA www.politico.com/story/2017/03/eric-trump-sharing-business-updates-father-236464________ Oh and foreign agent Flynn discussed kidnapping a US green card holder for Turkey? Really? Is this what "extreme vetting looks like?"

Still astonished by the fact Republicans have campaigned on repeal and replace for 7 years. Slammed the process, said Obama slammed it down their throats, held 60 votes to repeal and....... they debated it for 2 weeks, didn't even hold a vote and are moving on... They've had a majority for 7 years....
Oh and this....
Wow

Imagine how bad that bill was that after all that ground work by Mr Obama they still had a straight line vote before they read it...

Republicans didn't vote for Obamacare then, but sure looks like they are voting for it now.... Maybe their opposition wasn't exactly genuine but hey you still have that talking point to hold on too. Well played. How many of those "poor people" will actually be people who never wanted health insurance and were jackbooted into buying it by this law? Any estimate?
Or does that not fit the story?

Since you're a member of The Party of Personal Responsibility maybe you can let us now.. Republicans have majorities in all 3 branches, had 7 years, 60 repeal votes, and can't seem to come up with something better... Blame your own party.

Considering that none of these folks will be a part of the medicare expansion, I'd say a low percentage will be people forced to take insurance..

The American Health Care Act represents the absolute worst in legislation, legislation proposed by a GOP which had seven years to formulate an alternative, and one which would have been even worse if the Freedom Caucus had its way. After railing against ACA, a law based on Republican ideas and principles, promising the base repeal and replacement with a superior alternative, that's the best the GOP could come up with? Where are all those superior plans I've been promised for seven years? AHCA emerged as the Republican alternative not because Trump, Ryan, and certainly not 218 Republicans House members thought it would provide better healthcare. The GOP proposed that awful garbage because they couldn't come up with anything else.

www.politico.com/magazine/story/2017/03/obamacare-vote-paul-ryan-health-care-ahca-replacement-failure-trump-214947It was Thursday afternoon and members of the House Freedom Caucus were peppering the president with wonkish concerns about the American Health Care Act—the language that would leave Obamacare’s “essential health benefits” in place, the community rating provision that limited what insurers could charge certain patients, and whether the next two steps of Speaker Paul Ryan’s master plan were even feasible—when Trump decided to cut them off. "Forget about the little Edited," Trump said, according to multiple sources in the room. "Let's focus on the big picture here." The group of roughly 30 House conservatives, gathered around a mammoth, oval-shaped conference table in the Cabinet Room of the White House, exchanged disapproving looks. Trump wanted to emphasize the political ramifications of the bill's defeat; specifically, he said, it would derail his first-term agenda and imperil his prospects for reelection in 2020. The lawmakers nodded and said they understood. And yet they were disturbed by his dismissiveness. For many of the members, the "little Edited" meant the policy details that could make or break their support for the bill—and have far-reaching implications for their constituents and the country. "We’re talking about one-fifth of our economy," a member told me afterward. ______________ "You can't con people, at least not for long... if you don't deliver the goods, people will catch on." - Donald Trump, The Art Of The Deal

Will be interesting to see how this plays out. Premiums will certainly rise as the Republicans are no longer enforcing the individual mandate and the young, healthy people are going to stop signing up. But the government subsidies will rise correspondingly so maybe it won't collapse... Seems like a continuation of the current Republican policy of, "Gov't doesn't work. We're going to make sure it doesn't work as proof that it doesn't work."

If that was a major concern for R's they would have just repealed the bill and solved the problem. They did not, now they are moving on. They could also do Medicare for all. That would also solve that particular problem. Unfortunately though they got their base all riled up for nothing and now they're moving In case you were wondering how Foreign Policy is going... *US admits it killed more than 200 Iraqi civilians in an airstrike in Mosul, according to a Pentagon statement. A mosque in Syria was also bombed earlier in the week killing 47 people during prayer service, and a school was bombed in Syria this week killing another 30... After airstrikes killing as many as 200 civilians, Iraqi officer says rules of engagement relaxed under Trump. www.nytimes

Drip . . . drip . . . drip . . . Kushner "volunteers" to be interviewed by Senate Intelligence Committee over a heretofore undisclosed meeting during the transition with a representative of a Russian bank which the Obama Administration had sanctioned. "The White House Counsel’s Office was informed this month that the Senate Intelligence Committee, which is investigating Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, wanted to question Mr. Kushner about meetings he arranged with the Russian ambassador, Sergey I. Kislyak, according to the government officials. The meetings included a previously unreported sit-down with the head of Russia’s state-owned development bank." www.nytimes.com/2017/03/27/us/politics/senate-jared-kushner-russia.htmlGee, makes the GOP suspicions over the Clinton Global Foundation look like child's play. Come on Republicans, do you have any concerns??
