Anyone else think this guy may be the surprise of the season. I think III may have a hard time keeping him off the court. He seems very tall. Listed at 6-6 but he seemed almost as tall as Whittington. Kaleb might be around 6-7 with long arms. He seems like a Hollis/Trawick hybrid. Good handles, active on the boards, can finish with authority (better than Hollis but probably not as good as Trawick), nice stroke, and is a heat seeking missile for every loose ball. He's more athletic than advertised. A glue guy but also with high skill level. In fact the best unit might be: DSR, Peak, Kaleb Johnson, Copleand, Govan (even though I don't like Copleand at the 4). This kid may put us over the top this year. The final piece or ingredient. Your new screen name should be prophetichoya

Not a bad day of work yesterday for Kaleb. He's been pushed into action more than expected early with Tre and Paul out, and he went out and scored an efficient 14 points on Duke at MSG. He's definitely a work in progress - handle is shaky and he can get lost on defense - but very glad to have this kid on our roster. And I hope he's talking to his little bro...

Actually impressed with Kaleb's handle as a 6'6" guard in his fourth game (especially knowing that he had to play off smaller guards as a high school player). Seemed pretty comfortable to me bringing the ball up under slight pressure and initiating the offense. Huge upside with Kaleb if that 3-point jumper is for real and his frame fills out. He is looking like a true diamond in the rough recruit by the staff.
The last 2 classes are strong. Usually the talent wins out. Hopeful that this plays out this year for our Hoyas.
Each of the Top 11 guys have shown some serious promise (including White and Tre's play from last year).

Remember this guy played the PF at Carlisle his Junior season when Thon Maker was there. Pretty remarkable progression out of the kid...

This is without a doubt the deepest Hoya team (counting white and tre in the fold) I have seen in the last 15 years. Can't speak to before then, but this is the first time when I feel like literally every guy on the roster can not only play, but impact the game in a significant way (perhaps with the exception of Williams, although even he gave us a few solid minutes against Duke). When reserves come in, they aren't looking to give the starters a blow and hold the rope, they are looking to go out and win the damn game. Every guy is fearless, and I love it.

He has a better handle than what Jason Clark had his freshman year, and looks like he'll be able to contribute more overall this year as well. While it's probably not the most desired role for him, I could see him being a serviceable tall PG by junior year with just progressive improvement.

Man I just wanted Kaleb to enjoy GTown and give positive feedback to his little bro before the Italy trip. After Italy I was hopeful that Kaleb would be a role player/defensive stopper. 4 games into the season I'm not sure he isn't the best player in his class and he may be gone before little bro steps on campus. Not saying that he is a one and done but at his size and skill I could see him being ready to go pro after his junior season......

One thing I didn't realize until the Duke game was how much potential Johnson has at the point. Am I off-base here and if not, will JTIII groom him for that position? The prospect of a Kris Dunn like player running the point for the Hoyas is intriguing. It also occurs to me that the concerns over the Hoyas depth at guard next year are less pressing. JTIII can afford to be choosy regarding his next guard commit.
I like that defensive combo of Johnson and Peak... And I can't help but think ahead to Johnson and Mosely doing a John Linehan / Michael Graham impersonation. :-)

Haha I don't see Kris Dunn but 3 has already let him "run the point" or whatever you call it in our system. Has to work on his off hand and shooting..

My sophomore year of 1998-99 we went a solid 9 deep. Those guys also had a significant impact on the game, but not in a particularly good way. I remember leaving the Princeton NIT game thanking heaven that the season had mercifully ended.

I always thought Dunn was 6'6 but it turns out he is only 6'3. I should have said Pippen or Magic Johnson:-P.

Yeah plus Dunn is snakelike with the ball in his hands....I know it was NJIT (I think) but he's already had a 22 pt, 10 rb, 9 ass, 7 steal game....there aren't many like him
