Does seeing Joe Scott and Johnny Dawkins on these lists take anyone else back to Spring 2004? Where have you gone, Bobby Gonzalez?

Wright State has parted ways with head coach Billy Donlon, sources confirmed to ESPN. According to the sports information director at Wright State, Donlon is still the head coach and has not been fired. Of course, this could change, but I'll await a formal announcement from Wright State before adding Donlon to the list of carousel riders. EDIT at 10:30 pm: Still nothing official from Wright State, but Donlon, when reached by a reporter, told him that he hadn't had a chance to meet with his players yet to tell them what was happening, and that he didn't want it to be that way. That's enough for me.

There'll be a lot riding on who Pitt can get to replace Dixon, as they're at risk of joining BC at the bottom of ACC with a bad outcome. I wonder if they'll put a call into Ben Howland at Miss St (even if he just finished his first year there), as they parted on good terms if I'm remembering it right.

The Pitt search will be interesting especially if we end up having to undertake our own search after next year. Right now their fans seem to be in delusion mode ("is Billy Donovan ready to come back to the college game yet?" etc.) but in the end I imagine some of the candidates that are looked at in their search would be guys we'd consider next year if a move needed to be made. Their job has some things going for it that ours doesn't, ours has some things that theirs doesn't, but overall I'd guess it would be a similar pool of candidates.
One name I saw mentioned on their board is a guy I was already looking at for us as potential replacement if the need arose: Will Wade from VCU. Definite up and comer who was a good recruiting assistant for Amaker and Shaka, succeeded as head coach at Chattanooga and had a nice first year at VCU. No doubt that that guy could recruit well at either place, and he plays an aesthetically pleasant style (which would be welcomed at Pitt or Georgetown for sure). Some may say he won this year with Shaka's players and that's true, he'd need to keep it up a few more years before you can say he's a sure thing, but by that time the price will be through the roof and only the absolute best programs will be able to afford him (similar to what happened with Shaka). If he can keep it up for one more year I'd be thrilled to land him next year. I'm just hoping Pitt goes in another direction so he's still on the board for us this time next spring if needed.
