Hoya commits: 42. Jessie Govan - rankings range from 36 to 67; gained six spots. 93. Marcus Derrickson - dropped 13 spots; rankings ranged from 78 to unranked (which I'm sure 247 sports will regret at some point). Kaleb is unranked. Not a lot of love for Derrickson in these rankings. For good or bad, this is more or less where Mikael Hopkins and Markel Starks were. RSCIOthers of note: 2. Skal 5. Rabb 12. Trier 16. Swanigan 24. Dozier 48. Comanche --Because note everyone ranked them, Thon Maker and Jamal Murray are here-- 75. Dickerson 87. Hanif Cheatham 94. Bryant Crawford

I thought Hopkins was quite a bit higher in the rankings and Starks was maybe in the 70s?
Anywho, it was very difficult for Derrickson to improve his ranking during his senior year when he played on a guard oriented team that was arguably the most talented in the nation and sending several guards/SFs to elite Division I programs. There weren't a ton of shots for him and chances to control offense.
That said, all those quick, talented guards probably helped Derrickson realize he was going to have to drop weight and improve conditioning to contribute at the next level. The kid looks like a new person now, and his numbers started to go up big time at the end of the year after he had gotten in better shape and was able to run with the smaller cats.
I would expect, after about 3-4 games in Kenner, everyone to call Derrickson an underrated recruit and predict decent bench minutes as a frosh.

Mikael was 98th, buoyed by a rather crazy scout.com 39th ranking.
Kel was 94th. Neither was in every recruiting service's Top 100 - I think both were ranked in 4 of 6.
It's worth noting that Lubick was 42nd in 2010 and Otto was 34th in 2011. Despite how much we liked that 2011 class, it actually only had three Top 100 consensus recruits -- and one of those never played for us.
