Here's what I like about Zach.
He can play - and defend - all three perimeter positions. He fits our mold as someone who can do a little of everything. I think he'd be a contributor from day 1. He's a tad under recruited because he's not an elite athlete, but if he plays the point, he suddenly becomes a guy with elite size for his position.

Don't sleep on Wake! Norvell has mentioned Wake religiously. I think if the staff had offered earlier, say entering into July or after the first evaluation period in July when he was still mentioning the Hoyas in every interview. Mentally he could have started focusing his attention elsewhere like Wake. Sometimes its not about just offering but about when you offer.

I do think Wake and Georgia Tech are legitimate threats in this one, perhaps moreso than Illinois and Purdue. Norvell is a high academic kid, which is another reason Georgetown is such a good fit.

Wake also has a similar feel as an institution that Georgetown has. Architecture, Student Body, Academics, etc. The good news is that (in my opinion) we are ahead of them in most categories and definitely on the court. Would love to have this kid and I think he could anchor a 2016 transition class.

I'm sure it's just me, but I always get uncomfortable with references to the University of Georgetown. It makes me wonder how much interest the kid really has.

Recruits refer to the "University of Kansas" or "Kentucky University" all the time...Norvell has plenty of interest in Georgetown. He was practically begging for an offer for months.

He would be a great fit, and I would be extremely happy to see the Hoyas land him.

I love this offer and want him as a Hoya. The only negative for me is it indicates the staff isn't feeling great about Curtis Jones, but at least they are acting on a contingency plan before it's too late. And it's very possible that Norvell will be better than Jones would be for us.

Unless we know with absolute certainty that Jones is coming (and we don't), there's no reason whatwoever not to offer Norvell. I hope we get him; he'll eventually learn the name of the school.

I don't disagree with you. I meant that it was negative only in that it could be an indicator. We definitely should get away from all the eggs in one basket strategy and I think we generally have been trending away from that.

This guy should be our top backcourt priority. He and Bracey would be a good backcourt duo.

Funny thing is if we got Bracey and Norvell, we'd actually have 3 point guards (or 2 points and 1 that can play point) which is definitely not a bad thing and gotta believe a first in the JT3 era.

So all this optimism in this thread about Norvell, is it based on anything more than just an assumption based on his naming us on his list of schools?
