Saw this game on TV; really like this kid. He was much more athletic than I anticipated. He took a defensive rebound, and then dribbled the length of the floor and finished with a nice reverse layup. And like all the scouting reports say, he has a great motor and is a willing rebounder. He is skinny now, but he has the kind of frame that suggests he will be able to add muscle. And by the time he gets here, he'll actually have a nice weight room to use to add that muscle....

From Rivals at Adidas Nations: Rising senior four-star Javin Delaurier barely even broke a sweat while scoring 13 points and grabbing seven rebounds in an easy 138-69 win for 2016 Team Rose over Nations Select. Delaurier told Rivals that he had hoped to cut his list and set visits by the time he arrived in Vegas but he hasn't had time to go over things with his mother and he hopes to set a list of finalists and start scheduling visits between his return home to Virginia after the weekend and the start of school in late August. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1787916

Just picked up an Arizona offer, per multiple twitter sources. Basically expected after TJ Leaf de-committed a few days ago.. I'm sure Miller will offer Gabriel too..

Huge longshot IMO. But if the staff thinks there is a chance, they should go all in.

I agree if the recruit is dropping the Hoyas. But if not, even if it is a longshot, if the staff feels there is a chance, they should stay in the game here.
For all we know, the staff may have moved on already.

We can get a SF/PF in 2017 with Rafus, Jaren JR, Simms and Pugh in play. Don't really need a PF with all the forwards we have on the roster.

Accoeding to a report by Adam Zagoria of ZagsBlog and Hoopseen.com Hoyas are not listed among schools being considered for Combo Forward DeLaurier's services. He has 4 visits in mind. "The 6-foot-9 power forward from Charlottesville (Va.) St. Anne’s-Belfield and Team Loaded will visit Notre Dame (Sept. 5) and Texas (Sept. 12). He’s also setting up visits to Princeton (Sept. 19) and Stanford (Oct. 3)." Interesting thing about DeLaurier's list is that they are pretty strong academic schools in particular Stanford and Princeton. He says that academics are a strong factor in his decision making process. “I am just looking forward to be able to see both schools with great academics when classes are in session and being able to experience what being a student is like there,” he told Hoopseen.com. "Virginia Tech, Miami, Louisville, Cal, North Carolina and Florida remain in the mix, he told Hoopseen." I'm not crazy about the kid but he is a very solid prospect and would've been a good addition to the Hoyas roster. It's weird to me based on his interest in a strong academic institution that he is not even considering the Hoyas. Have to believe that even though the staff offered (very late compared to most schools), and watched his team play a ton in July because Sacha Killeya-Jones and Mamadi Diakite (other Hoyas PF prospects offered in 16 class) played on the same team with Javin in July, that the staff was not highly enamored or the kid was not a fan of Georgetown. Based on the type of schools he is focusing on, Georgetown fits the profile. Seems more likely staff didn't put the full court press on in recruiting DeLaurier. Javin DeLaurier sets 4 visits. Talks about schools in the mix!

At one point they had Sacha Killeya-Jones committed along with Jay Huff and we're still heavily involved with Mamadi Diakite. All play the same position as DeLaurier and SKJ and Diakite are better prospects. Even after SKJ de-committed they still never pursued DeLaurier and eventually added Memphis Transfer Austin Nicholls and Mamadi Diakite committed to Virginia recently.

Wish we were on his list, but... we are not. Oh well. We have some great kids at the 3 & 4. We'll get more.
