Flat out there is no one I want in the 16 Class in Hoya uniform more then this kid! A flat out stud that is highly skilled and athletic. DeAndre Hunter at the SG in our offense with what we will have coming back (I expect Copeland & Peak to be in the Association) will be an immediate impact player because of his skill set, athleticism and mismatch opportunities. The only reason this kid is a "3 Star" is because he missed his sophomore season and last summer with a reported back injury and wasn't really seen nationally until this July. Otherwise this kid would be an easy 5 Star recruit. Please tell what this kid is lacking in terms of skill set or how he is not a perfect fit in JTIII ever evolving offense.

I just love how on balance he is in his shooting form. It's like textbook and nice and quick. This kid gets his ball handling up he might be an NBA superstar.

Are you a friend or relative of this kid? I'm not being snarky, just curious because you rarely see a poster as passionate and enthusiastic about one particular recruit.

Whether he is or isn't a relative, he's right about this kid. Hunter has the upside to be a lotto pick. He's got the athleticism and ballhandling of Whittington and the overall skill of Otto. He's got a chance to be special

The first thing I noticed right of the bat is his uncanny resemblance to Whittington.

He's got a chance to be special Yeah I'm D. Hunter's dad! I wish because that would mean that our family is in for a huge pay day in a few years. No relation! I just wanna see our Hoyas hang another banner. I also have a strong knowledge and experience in high school/exposure/grassroots and college basketball and the recruiting process. I also have some close friends who coach at Mid Majors or have coached at High Majors in the past who I get feed back from. I also don't think I'm going out on a limb or out of mind when I make these comments regarding Hunter. The kid IMO is the most complete prospect we are on who fits JTIII system and still has a HUGE upside. This kid picks the right school and system to play in, continues to work his tail off and stays healthy he will definitely be a lottery pick. In terms of recruiting, my perspective on what JTIII and the staff has done the last few years is they have identified talent with huge upside that is about to peak (no pun intended) and got commitments before they blew up nationally (Copeland, White, Peak, Govan, Whittington and Porter to name a few). Even though Hunter has gotten a number of offers in the last few weeks, I think he still qualifies as a very much under the radar prospect with huge upside. I wish we had offered in early July before he started getting all these offers and was talking Georgetown in every interview but the schools that have offered are not that tough of competition for his commitment. I think if the staff goes extremely hard at him and assured him he would be used as SG/Wing, kind of how the team is using Peak, I think it would catch his attention and at least secure an official visit. If you read everything coming from his camp, they specifically state he is a SG/Wing because they know that playing the SG in college is his best and quickest way to the association. If you watch any of his mixtapes or his Hudl junior year highlight video you can already tell he would excel in JTIII ever evolving offense. My thoughts are out of all the prospects we are on this year, Hunter skill set, IQ and the natural things he does on the court like backdoor cuts that have helped him excel would make his transition to the Hoya's system pretty easy. Also with our roster going forward Hunter would be assured of playing the SG/Wing where if he went to Villanova (which I think is a very long shot based on things Hunter has stated in interviews) he would be forced to play the 4 in Jay Wrights super small ball offense. i think Virginia is the biggest challenger for DeAndre Hunter's services but i think if he were to look at roster and really study our style of play, and staff made him a huge priority we would be a strong contender for his services.

Agree completely. I think there is a definite niche for our recruiting right now; like you said we do better identifying undervalued prospects due to make a big rise their senior years. I think we're better at getting early commitments from the 50-150 range before they blow up, as opposed to battling the big boys for already established top 50 talent. I think we wasted a lot of time with certain recruits in 2015, but still ended up with a good class by grabbing players in our niche. Didn't know much about Hunter, but the more I watch the more I like and agree with you on his fit to our system. Let's hope the staff (and the kid) agree...

I can't recall the last time I saw someone who wasn't a consensus top 10 recruit getting as many raves on this board as this kid is. Just based on that alone, I hope we go hard after him.

After getting Mosely today, I hope the staff turns their attention to DeAndre Hunter. The combination of Mosely and Hunter in the backcourt would be dynamic and unbelievably explosive. They are both still just scratching the surface of their potential. Their potential together along with the team coming back would in 16-17 would be tremendous. They could at some point develop into the best backcourt duo in the country.
We got Mosely now let's get Hunter!

This kid is good very good, I would love to see him play the SG/SF role for JT3.

I think we should change the thread title to Deandre Hunter SG. if thats where the kid wants to play you let him. Tell him were not Nova, where he will be forced to play the 4 because they never have size.

I'm sure Missouri fans share the sentiment about Mike Anderson.
