Hey, Keldon, tell 'em all "no." Then shock the world and come to G'town.

This weekend we caught up with Johnson and spoke about his recruitment. Since his performance at the Virginia Top 80, Johnson has picked up 8 Division 1 offers, “East Carolina, NC State, Georgetown, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Old Dominion, Penn St, and Cincinnati have offered me. It is an exciting time, all this is happening, but it doesn’t surprise me.” As we mentioned before Keldon’s brother Kaleb is a rising freshman at Georgetown. When asked whether or not he will make a decision separate of his brother Keldon seemed to have some uncertainty stating, “Well I don’t know. I probably will, but…Maybe...”After seeing Johnson again at Corey Pegram’s Summer Finale, our Jamie Shaw stated, “There Are Not 20 Better Players in The 2018 Class Than 6'5 Keldon Johnson (Park View). A 5-Star.” Johnson has a smooth feel for the game, he is comfortable on the ball in the half court. The 4.0 student has a very lengthy frame and is able to score the ball at all 3-levels. As we stated after the Virginia Top 80, the sky is the limit for him. www.phenomhoopreport.com/news_article/show/544471?referrer_id=1555437To me it's silly to ask this question to a Sophomore kid, let him go thru the process just like his brother did.. Continuos questions like this can turn a kid off real fast.. I don't disagree but it seems kind of inevitable. And, the better his brother plays, the more frequently he'll get asked that question. I almost feel bad for kids in his position because he's so young and he's going to have to deal with all of the attention and reaching out from schools for a long time. Once the excitement of having so many options wears off, that's gotta get draining pretty quickly.

Over/under page number on this thread before Keldon makes his decision? A highly regarded soph with offers rolling in already with his older brother already being a Hoya. We may hit a recruiting thread record on this one, no?

I think this recruitment will depend a lot on how the Hoyas perform next two years in March - if we actually make it back to the promised land beyond sweet 16 and get more exposure, I'd say we have a real shot in this one against schools like Kentucky, Kansas, Duke, Arizona due to his brother being here. But if we continue to get bounced out on the first weekend, I'd highly doubt that he will come here if he continues to stay as a 5 star player.

Maybe but I think it will more be on how his brother fares here. Say Kaleb is a 3yr contributer on a good team that needs one break to get over the hump into a final four look then I think he comes here. Say his brother starts as a Junior and seeing him play so far that isn't far fetched at all, I could see Keldon saying let me help my brother get a championship. His answer to the question shows that he has thought about that possibility.

This^^ What I took from the two interviews given by Keldon is that he really loves and looks up to his big brother and if Kaleb enjoys his time on the Hilltop we will probably get Keldon. Maybe I'm looking through Hoya tinted shades but I felt really good about our chances when I read the interview about Kaleb.........

Maybe it's just me and I am not trying to be a negative nelly but I didn't take the interview to be a positive sign for Hoyas. Now that vibe can be lost in translation so I could be off.
Carry on.

I think it really depends on Kaleb's experiences at Georgetown, along with Kaleb's own views and feelings. Some siblings have an almost instinctive reflex to carve their own path and go elsewhere, whereas others like to stick together. Based on his comments, it doesn't seem that he is set on taking his own path. I think that's a good sign, though I think it's really too soon to know.
As cosmopolitanhoya said, our performance this coming March could be the most important factor in all of this - not only for Keldon's recruitment, but also for other similar guys.

I think it is. I saw his whole quotes as I love my brother and look up to him. Most of the time that leads to I want to do something as a family. You don't get a whole lot of chances to do that. Those answers tell me he wants to have that experience or has thought about how cool that experience would be. They didn't play in high school together because Kaleb team was a veteran team I think. I think his dad wanted his sons game to grow. I can see dad being happy that they are brothers being on the same team and with Keldon projection, It may only be a one year thing which I say if Kaleb stays for 4 years, it lines up perfectly to have that experience and go on to an NBA career for him. It's too early to say he is going to be a one and done but he is projecting that way now.

Sounds like he was caught off guard by the question, either way it will come down to relationships not recruiting interviews and other nonsense..

That is my point Dense. On the plumlees, that is a pretty solid pipeline of bigs despite the little brothers lack of skills. How they got out of Indiana is surprising. The Zeller clan is what I would expect out of siblings with them all trying something different but I hope in the case of this younger brother, things work out.

I Understand the cart before the horse warning. I just am glad his answer wasn't a flat out I'm my own person I make my own decisions. He gave an answer like he had thought about it which is super positive. I see it as we will be in this to the end no matter what.
