The Top 5: 1) Keldon Johnson - The younger brother of 2015 Georgetown commit Kaleb Johnson, Keldon set the all-time VHSL scoring record for a freshman this year, and he had multiple 40-point games. He's strong, he has good feel, and he knows how to manufacture offense. 2) Brandon Slater - Somewhat similar to former Paul VI wing Josh Reaves, Slater has a load of upside in a ridiculously long 6'5 frame. He's already an impactful defender, and we think he's more skilled than people may realize. 3) Ian Steere - His physical attributes are off the charts, and he showed good offensive development throughout the year. Steere is a major paint presence already who can protect the rim and convert from 15 feet and in. 4) Rasir Bolton - A highly skilled point guard with a good basketball IQ, Bolton can facilitate, score from the perimeter, and make plays below the arc. 5) David McCormack - Also a football player, McCormack has some of the best long-term ability in this class (on both the football field and basketball court). He has great hands and very good feet in a massive 6-foot-9 frame. McCormack can become a go-to guy down low. - See more at: www.vantagehoops.com/news_article/show/493220?referrer_id=1102873#sthash.cBkqPnzZ.dpuf

www.vantagehoops.com/news_article/show/476242?referrer_id=142899326.8 points per game. 40 points in his second high school game. And 9 games with 30 points or more, including one other 40-point outing and games of 35, 31, and 36 over the past two weeks. As a freshman. Keldon Johnson has absolutely exploded onto the Virginia hoops scene, breaking the all-time VHSL freshman scoring record of 559 points that dated back to 1952. Johnson completed the feat on Saturday night against by scoring 22 points against Brunswick. He now has 564 points on the year. Johnson is averaging nearly 27 points per game as a freshman "I have a great team, and I have a great coach that's behind me all the way in anything I do, and they believe in me to score and take us where we need to go," Johnson said. Standing over 6'4 with very long arms and good athleticism, Johnson is a well-rounded wing who can score from from the perimeter and at the rim. He's a good shooter and a very strong finisher, who can already serve as a secondary or tertiary ball handler and create for himself going toward the rim. And even better is that he knows the game and wants to make the right play. All in all, he's simply extremely talented. And he's also the younger brother of Kaleb Johnson, who recently committed to Georgetown University. Keldon says his older brother has helped him some along the way. "He roughed me up in the backyard a lot," Johnson laughed. "I learned a lot of his moves. He beat me a lot, but I've beaten him once or twice."

Really hope that big brother enjoys his time on the Hilltop. It would be nice to have the inside track on a 5* guard. Little Bro may want to play with his brother for a year. One can only dream......... ?

The "kid" next to him is 6'9" and 290 lbs - also a top flight football player. So no wonder little brother Keldon looks tiny.

One can only dream......... ? That'd be great if Keldon was the guard version of Otto Porter for us--a big time player and lottery pick that we are only able to recruit due to some very fortuitous circumstances (in Keldon's case, having his brother play for us, in Otto's case, Otto being under the radar due to not playing AAU and us having his dad's former teammate on staff) which then helps us recruit comparable talents at his position going forward.

15U Age Group: Keldon Johnson (Team Loaded VA) Now if you want to see a superstar in the making you have to check out Keldon Johnson. Johnson has all the tools to be the next best wing in the state of Virginia. He can shoot the ball from three, attack the basket, has good athleticism, and has ability to run the point. Johnson will keep growing in front of our eyes and most likely will become a high major player before it’s all said and done. makeplayz.com/hoop-group-southern-jam-fest-recap-dennis-smith-thon-maker-more/?cbg_tz=240Team Loaded Va 15U While the team fell short of the championship, there is no doubting the amount of talent on the team. They are led by the high scoring 6’5 Keldon Johnson of Park View HS. Johnson is the younger brother of Georgetown commitment Kaleb Johnson. Keldon is as smooth and confident as they come and will be recruited at the highest level. 6’9 David McCormack may have been the biggest player in the event (yes that includes the 17U age group). McCormack tips the scales at a well put together 300 pounds. He has great hands and feet, and is also a high level football recruit. 5’9 Dakari Johnson and 6’2 Deandre Thomas also opened eyes during the event. www.phenomhoopreport.com/news_article/show/516585-southern-jam-fest-event-recap
